The video reminded me of a joke we used to whisper to one another back then at home.
Comrade Lenin was driving to Washington when his car broke down. Someone suggested taking it to a repair shop.
“Absolutely not,” said Comrade Lenin. “We will not rely on the services of these bourgeois capitalists! The proletariat will push the car!”
So the proletariat arrived, full of enthusiasm, and began pushing Comrade Lenin’s car. They pushed and pushed, but the engine would not start. Eventually, they gave up and abandoned the effort.
At last, Comrade Lenin had no choice but to allow the car to be taken to one of those evil capitalist repair shops. The mechanics fixed it immediately.
“It’s ready,” they told him. “You can continue your journey to Washington.”
“What was wrong with it?” Lenin asked. “Was it missing any parts or equipment?”
“No,” replied the American mechanic. “It had every part it needed. The problem was that none of them were in the right place.”
“I see,” said Lenin. “But was there any part that impressed you? Anything that worked better than the others?”
“As a matter of fact, yes,” said the American mechanic. “One part impressed me enormously. All the other parts were ordinary, but this one was extraordinarily efficient. I even made a note of it. I don’t know how you managed to make it so perfect. Even when the car itself wasn’t working, that part worked flawlessly.”
“Really?” Lenin asked with great interest. “Which part was that?”
“The horn,” replied the American mechanic.
So, comrades, for those too young to remember that era — or who never experienced it — this video, and all the noise about “taking Elon’s money” and redistributing the wealth of successful people, shows the same old story.
Under communism, we had a perfect horn: loud propaganda, slogans, and endless talk about equality. But the car never moved.
Today we see what happens when the parts are put in the right place: people create real companies, real innovation, and real value that actually moves society forward.
The difference between pushing the car with slogans and driving it with results is still the same.
David Sacks just delivered an economics masterclass on Elon becoming the world’s first trillionaire.
@davidsacks: “People see the headline and imagine Elon suddenly has a trillion dollars in the bank. That’s not how it works. His balance sheet didn’t change overnight.”
Why?
The real point is deeper. Wealth isn’t in the “stuff” we consume. Food, shelter, clothes. Things that depreciate and disappear. It’s in the machines that create stuff for decades: tools, workflows, and corporations.
These are the true engines of human progress.
“If you create a machine that makes more stuff, then there’s a discounted present value for all the stuff in the future that machine might create. That’s where the wealth comes from.”
Elon started with nothing. An immigrant who slept on the floor building Zip2. He created these machines from vision and relentless effort. Thousands joined him, including a SpaceX welder who turned his labor into a million dollars in stock.
That’s the magic of tech and free markets: labor can become capital. It’s fluid.
The outrage misses this entirely. The people building machines that deliver medicines, energy, and abundance are creating lasting prosperity for everyone.
What do you think? Does viewing wealth as future productivity change how you see stories like this?
@2waytvapp@MarkHalperin Obama’s tower reminds me of Torre dei Conti. Nobles flexed with massive towers as power symbols and chided rivals from their tower for the very games they played. Modern institutions do the same — with and from their “Obamalisk.” History rhymes.
@briannalyman2 It was that kind of delayed realisation, Briana or Miranda ?! The resemblance is definitely there in the overall vibe: long wavy brown hair, bright expressive eyes, warm smile, Brianna has the professional TV/journalist polish, while Miranda has the ethereal supermodel glow ✨✨
@emilyjashinsky Even when modern architects try to move beyond Greek or Italian symbolism, they still draw on ancient Mediterranean and medieval ideas-visible in forms like the Torre dei Conti - bc edu is grounded in historical realism. Modern democracy still uses ancient symbols of authority😆
@kellyeld Art hits different for everyone. Being old, lol, I'm taking my time adjusting to the visuals... but wow, the song is super cool! Keep shining! ❤️🔥
@kellyeld True, the strongest antidote is our softness. By sharing a smile, a gentle word, a moment of true compassion and yes, it doesn't fix everything, but it heals what silence and hardness never can 🕊️💝
What a challenge reading this book.
Struggling through diving into someone else's dream, talking to their soul.
I really can’t go more than 20-40 minutes before I need breaks to process. What a soul!
Pairing it with Kelly Boesch’s AI Red Book video - damn, this makes me cry.
A made a concept piece based on Carl Jung’s Red Book More on his state of mind. The actual artwork in this book is so stunning. I feel like his take on the collective consciousness is what ai is today. A collective of all consciousness available to all. Lyrics by me and song made using Suno. #ai #aiart #aivideo
@kellyeld Love ‘Pretty Things’ today, Kelly—so raw and beautiful! It gave me an idea: a surreal jewel-ballet piece in your style, inspired by Balanchine's Jewels: search for ‘The jewels that inspired choreographer George Balanchine’ on YouTube.
Jon Voight: "I'm here to tell you about Elon Musk. A man of dignity, a man of truth, a man of honor, who has done a lot for this country and the people of this USA. He's a kind soul, a gentle giant, and he loves America."
@the_jefferymead Ohhh, those Sunday brunch jingles, wedding fanfares, or a noon serenade, never rude enough to crash anyone’s dawn dreams. But MCA? Oh, they’ve snagged a First Amendment VIP pass to unleash a full karaoke adhan at 5 a.m., belting doctrinal anthems. Right?!
@Nero Dear God, wrap Milo in Your healing light. Ease the fear guide the doctors' hands for clear answers and the best path forward, and flood him with peace that surpasses understanding. Surround him with love strength for the fight and hope that shines brighter than any shadow.
