Prem Watsa, a Modi Bhakt gets IDBI Bank!

The Modi government has approved selling a controlling 60.72% stake in IDBI Bank to Fairfax’s Canadian entity for ₹52,877.07 crore.

Who leads Fairfax?

Prem Watsa, a longstanding, outspoken admirer of Narendra Modi.

In July 2018, Watsa publicly hoped Indian voters would give Modi a majority in 2019 and another term thereafter.

In May 2019, when questioned about Hindu nationalism, he downplayed it as a small component of the BJP and defended Modi as inclusive.

In Fairfax’s official 2022 shareholder letter, Watsa described himself as an unabashed admirer of Mr. Modi and declared: You are witnessing the greatest leader of the world.

He also wrote that he had distributed a book praising Modi, released by BlueKraft Digital Foundation, to all Fairfax companies in India and others worldwide.

In his next shareholder letter, he predicted Modi would easily win re-election in 2024.

If someone is still singing the BJP’s praises in the name of Hinduism, send them off with love. Clearly, something isn’t right.

The day is not far when supporting the BJP will be recognised as a mental disorder.

“3 months ago”, I mapped out this potential bottom in advance. The blue multiyear trendline was right there on the chart.

When the stock kept falling towards ‘my level’, some people abused me. “Who will touch Tata Elxsi? It’s going down and down!”

Fast forward to today. Good results, and look at that bounce right off the trendline I marked months ago!

Your guru will call it a coincidence. And I’ll simply say… sure, let’s keep it that way buddy. 😉
