Did you know Brighton Hippodrome was originally an unsuccessful ice rink, converted to a circus by architect Frank Matcham. That across it’s lifespan it staged names such as Houdini and the Beatles? That it has been on the Theatres at Risk Register since 2006? @savehippodrome

Hippodrome is from Greek ‘hippos’ meaning horse + ‘dromos’ meaning course. Originally referring to a racecourse, then came to mean circus and a large theatre.
