#AuburnWorldHistory I thought this quote was really well-said and captures the unfortunate truth of the University, “…slavery didn’t merely benefit the University of Chicago—slavery created it.”
#AuburnWorldHistory I had no idea of the history behind the university of Chicago and how it was “established, founded, and originally endowed by a slaveholder.”
#AuburnWorldHistory It really shows the true character of Douglas as he so easily could turn his attention to philanthropy on one hand while on the other he had no remorse for the pain he was inflicting upon the slaves.
@Jprogers01#AuburnWorldHistory I agree, I thought when someone said “the most beautiful thing about the revolution is that we’re all united,” was well said but also sad because it is so hard for people to come together nowadays.
#AuburnWorldHistory I liked how in the film it is said, “the most beautiful thing about this revolution is that we’re all united. We forgot our political differences and came together and succeeded together.”
#AuburnWorldHistory It’s cool to still see the optimism in a lot of the people throughout this film when they’ve gone through so much for their country.
#AuburnWorldHistory I had no idea how brutally the people of Egypt have been treated until watching this film. I thought it was crazy how the youth of their nation is blamed and face harsh consequences for standing up to make a change for the better.
#AuburnWorldHistory I thought it was interesting how Mardi Gras was brought up, and how the “Mardi Gras Indian chants and from the dawn of hip-hop itself” is mentioned when discussing bounce and its history
#AuburnWorldHistory “exiled from their New Orleans homes for many months in their restlessness and homesickness, they started staging bounce shows for the locals..” this reminded me of my childhood and when my family moved from New Orleans and the affects of Katrina on my home.
#AuburnWorldHistory I found it interesting how class configuration is discussed,“Clear class politics…is usually derived out of an understanding of production, gets theoretically fuzzy as it becomes more realistic…a class issue but it’s not a class issue in a classical sense.”
#AuburnWorldHistory this quote was interesting as it gives an idea of Neoliberalism history, “this period was defined by a broad movement across many fronts, ideological and political… recognizing the relatively high degree of solidarity in the corporate capitalist class.”
#AuburnWorldHistory I thought it was interesting how the challenge between domestic and global labor is discussed and the idea of immigration coming up but it is said “this created a great deal of dissatisfaction and unrest.”
#AuburnWorldHistory When the doomsday machine is discussed, Dr. Strangelove says that it is quite possible and said that it is essential to attack. I found this conversation to be really interesting as everyone is very curious to know the potential of the machine.
#AuburnWorldHistory I found the conversations to be very realistic in the film and I thought it was interesting how they discuss weapons and the potential affects of the doomsday machine.
#AuburnWorldHistory From the Dr. Strangelove film, I found it interesting how it was said, “War is too important to be left to the politicians, they have neither the time, the training, nor the inclination for strategic thought.”
