🚨 Kalyan Jewellers is asking for a 5% CUT on the cash payout while buying back gold coins.

The reasoning they gave is that if the gold coins were bought through their store, they can buy them back with only a 2% deduction.

However, if the gold coins were bought online, even with a valid invoice, they can only be bought back with a 5% deduction.

This is what they told me.

As more people route more money through online purchases and gift card discounts, stores usually don't encourage these patterns because they get lower margins, no markup, and fewer benefits from those transactions.

This may not be true everywhere.

Through my connections, I was able to get the 2% deduction.

However, this 5% deduction was quoted to me at 3 different Kalyan Jewellers stores in Hyderabad.

Of course, this is not a company-wide policy.
