I had a recent conversation with both Stanford professor and another professor from Tsinghua separately.
The Stanford professor kept showing me the Ghibli and toy packaging gen from GPT that maximized his dopamine. To him, this is the pinnacle of technology.
I asked him what he thought on the Full-self Driving, he was not amazed, and he told me his colleagues did not believe it’s going anywhere either.
The professor from Tsinghua was the opposite end of the spectrum. His main research focus had been shifted toward robotics, and he was extremely impressed by the Full-self Driving videos on Weibo.
What do you think how these two professors indirectly or directly influence their students on their research topics? And how big of the gap would that be many years from now?
Every new PhD students would have the influence of technology breakthroughs 5-10 years in the future.
If we are incubating our brightest and smartest PhD students at > $80K per year in elite schools, should we not encourage them to think bigger?

Federal agents built a fake crypto startup to test a theory—and it worked.
They caught UAE-based CLS Global offering to wash trade an AI token to fake demand. The DOJ says CLS used custom algorithms to make trades between its own wallets and simulate real market action.
The sting involved a full fake project—NexFundAI—launched by the feds on Uniswap. CLS bit, agreeing to promote the token with deceptive tactics.
Now CLS Global has pleaded guilty to market manipulation and wire fraud. It’s banned from U.S. crypto markets for 3 years and fined $428K.
Is this just the beginning of AI-token crackdowns?

From Doctoral Thesis to Fo Coin: A Twenty-Year Journey of a Web3 Idealist
At 6:00 AM, I habitually open my OKX Web3 wallet and several major cryptocurrency platforms to check the latest updates. This daily routine began in 2022 after I fell victim to a scam during a GameFi project, losing NFTs worth tens of thousands. Standing on the coast of Tseung Kwan O, I can’t help but recall a question posed by one of my thesis committee members during my defense in 2007: “How can your proposed digital equity scheme ensure it doesn’t evolve into a new privilege for a technological elite?”
Eighteen years later, this question remains profoundly relevant. As a professional in Hong Kong's higher education sector, I have developed a keen interest in the FoChat project launched by Mr Qian Fenglei and his team. The vision of “connecting Web 3 and Web 2 value” outlined in the project’s white paper prompted me to dust off my long-forgotten thesis draft. Concepts I once proposed—such as “credit algorithm-based inclusive finance” and “programmable social security mechanisms”—now seem to be taking shape in new ways through this initiative.
Since March 21, when Mr. Qian personally assisted me in installing FoChat on my phone, I have observed an intriguing phenomenon: users over 40, on average, take three times longer to complete on-chain transactions than younger users, yet their dispute rate is 58% lower. This finding supports the core hypothesis of my doctoral thesis: the essence of the digital divide lies in differences in trust mechanisms.
Throughout my ongoing observations, I remain focused on two critical questions:
How can we enable ordinary people to use Fo Coin as easily as they do WeChat Pay or Alipay?
What dispute resolution mechanisms should we establish when on-chain governance conflicts with real-world laws?
Utilizing the DApp browser feature of the OKX Web3 wallet, I am able to closely observe these ongoing “social experiments”:
Tracking the amendment processes of DAO organizations via the Aragon platform
Analyzing voting patterns on governance proposals using Snapshot
Studying dispute resolution cases on the Arbitrum chain
These subjects are not mere financial tools; they are vivid examples reflecting the evolution of digital social governance. While most focus on market price fluctuations, I lean toward analyzing the semantic networks of governance discussion forums. A colleague has humorously dubbed me a “digital-era ethnographer,” a fitting description—while others chase short-term gains, I delve into:
The deeper reasons behind intense discussions on Uniswap governance proposals
The persistently low voting participation rates in DAO organizations
The actual on-chain holdings of social media influencers
I plan to revisit the theoretical frameworks on risk management and dispute resolution from my doctoral thesis, integrating them with current developments, and submit them to the FoChat team as a reference, aiming to encode academic thought into the underlying logic of blockchain.
For instance, during a comparative study using OKX Web3's cross-chain capabilities, I discovered an intriguing phenomenon: community proposals on the Polygon chain are processed, on average, 1.8 times faster than those on Ethereum, yet their dispute resolution success rate is 23% lower. This finding may provide significant material for my new research.
These records are not ordinary investment logs; they are field notes from an observer navigating the evolution of digital civilization. When the market enters a frenzy, the multi-chain analytical tools provided by OKX Web3 serve as my digital telescope, helping me maintain a clear observational perspective.
