shouldn't be a hot take, but role lock is as close to objectively good as an opinion can be. No role lock wasn't player "agency" for the vast majority of the playerbase- it was an abused format that made improving in ranked a chore, and was frequently used by tilted players to hold teammates hostage.
people who think otherwise are spoiled from GM+ bias which, in my experience, suffered from this at a significantly lower rate.
oh, and two tanks was as much a problem for sustain metas as was support healing. Most crappy sustain metas like GOATs, Double Shield, and Reaper/Moira were enabled by 2x tanks, not simply through heal OP. Say what you will about 5v5 current balance state, but it's solved a lot of really crappy meta problems.
6v6 was unsustainable, tanks had to be individually weak and bullyable, supports had to be crazy strong and unkillable, and dps players spent more time shooting blue squares than enemies. The game was not good, move on.
The biggest myth about ow is that OWL ruined it. Owl did not ruin overwatch lmao. Buffing unfun and unskillful heros ruined the game. Owl was the one good thing about ow during the last two years of ow1
