@saficntion @lordenx669 Queer Muslims who read this thinking OP was a safe space; you WILL find folks who accept both your queerness and religiosity, pls hang in there before then! (If living in a Muslim-majority nation, don't use OP's misinformation/lack of knowledge as reason to hate Christians!)
@Randi_Sledge not exactly. LGBT rep in narrative art has absolutely gone up, but the theming in those stories has shifted radically. the majority of stories are parables abt self love, coming out, acceptance despite differences, rather than the queer body/soul as violence/enlightenment.
@Randi_Sledge ex: Todd Haynes w/ Safe, Gregg Araki w/ Doom Generation, even Van Sant w/ Elephant all wrote/directed powerful queer stories about dissociation, social transgression, latent rage and fear of extermination/apocalypse wrt AIDS w/o explicit LGBT characters in the same 10 year span.
@omibaloney The irony is that, here in SF, communal consumption is all the rage. Small live music, eating out, local "nights" in various nabes and more. The merchants of digital isolation may live here, but isolation is not how they live.
I miss old academic twitter and the twitterstorians before the big musky sale & deliberate disintegration of actual communities on here. I learned SO much from so many folk. And got multiple opportunities from connecting w scholars on here.
