We try to avoid statements but there are limits.
After analyzing thousands of videos over more than four years, we feel we have earned the right to speak plainly: Russia is committing war crimes repeatedly and systematically and they are getting worse.
The longer the West fails to respond decisively, the more these crimes continue. This inaction also sends a dangerous signal to other authoritarian regimes, suggesting that international law can be violated with little consequence. As a result, the boundaries of international law are becoming increasingly weak and difficult to enforce.
The last few days have once again shown that the Russian regime is a terrorist regime that has little regard for humanitarian law:
(1)
After Ukraine agreed to a Russian 3-day ceasefire proposal, for the Russian commemoration of the end of World War II and its victory over Nazi Germany, Russia launched one of the most severe attacks on Kyiv since the beginning of the war, resulting in multiple civilian casualties.
This stands in stark contrast to Russia’s public rhetoric about peace and historical memory.
(2)
It is not enough that Russia is deliberately targeting civilians in Kherson, also known as the “human safari”, it has now also started attacking clearly marked UN vehicles, which would represent another serious violation of international law. Attempts to hide or destroy evidence only make these actions more alarming. And its not the first time they try to hide or manipulate evidence.
Western leaders, especially the Trump administration, should wake up instead of being so easily manipulated by the Russian regime.

Sairastuneelta vanhukselta katkaistiin sähköt alle 60 € maksamattoman laskun takia. Pieneläkeläinen sai tammikuussa yli 700 € sähkölaskun pienessä omakotitalossaan.
Neuvottelu hiippakunnan johtavien diakonien kanssa kertoo karua kieltä ihmisten arjesta.
Sähkölaskujen, vesilaskujen ja ruoan nousevat hinnat vievät yhä useamman pienituloisen ahtaalle.
Sosiaaliturvan leikkaukset pahentavat tilannetta. Erityisen vaikeaa on niillä, joihin osuu useampi leikkuri. Ahtaalla erityisesti lapsiperheet, pieneläkeläiset ja mielenterveyskuntoutuja.
Seurakuntien avustusmäärärahat ylittyivät kaikkialla.
Nämä johtavat diakonit ovat ammattilaisia. Luotan täysin heidän viestiinsä.
Pakkanen ei voi tulla yllätyksenä. Ihmisen pitää syödä. Suomen on saatava sähkön, veden ja ruoan hinta alemmaksi. Osa leikkauksista osuu kohtuuttomasti.

Naisella todetiin mm. kallomurtuma.
Tilanne on tyypillinen.
Carol of the Bells wasn't just a song — it was Ukraine's wildest bet against Russia.
In 1919, Russian forces were closing in on Kyiv. Ukraine's dying government sent its best choir to Europe with $20 million from its last funds. Win Western hearts. Survive.
The choir fled on the last train out. Over five years — 150 cities, three continents.
The mission failed. By 1922, Ukraine was gone. The composer was shot in his sleep.
But the song conquered the world. Ukraine gave it away for free.

What does it look like when people who claim to follow Jesus are actually following earthly empires instead?
It looks like cheering on Pharaoh while condemning Moses for “being too political.”
It looks like getting enraged at the prophet Nathan for rebuking King David for his horrid sins and telling him, “You need to pray for him instead of critiquing! God can use a filthy minded wealthy man to accomplish good things!”
It looks like bowing to the statue of Nebuchadnezzar.
It looks like hearing God command that part of the nation’s taxes and resources are to be used to help the immigrant, the poor, and the vulnerable (Deuteronomy 14:28-29) and saying “my taxes better not be to going to pay for stuff like that.”
It sounds like telling the prophets of the Old Testament that they must “want lawlessness” for daring to stand up for the rights of the immigrant, the poor, the sick, the widow, the orphan, and the hungry.
It looks like telling John the Baptist he doesn’t love God or his country because he spoke the truth about King Herod’s abuse of power.
It looks like bringing good news to the rich and powerful and bad news to the poor and powerless.
It looks like hearing Jesus say “love your neighbor as yourself” then replying, “and who is my neighbor?”
It looks like the Samaritan bending over to help the injured man on the side of the road and saying “before I treat your wounds and pay for your continued care, are you here legally?”
It looks like little boy asking Jesus before he shares his loaves and fishes to feed the +5,000, “have you made sure everyone here has a job and isn’t just looking for a handout?”
It looks like accepting the temptation from Satan that Jesus rejected, to have power over all earthly kingdoms.
It sounds like the crowd choosing Barabbas.
It looks like seeing Jesus hanging on the cross and saying “well, he should’ve just obeyed the law.”
It looks like hearing God say “I will pour out my spirit on all people” (Acts 2) where all nations, languages, and tribes were present then protesting by saying “America first!”
It looks like treating the fruit of the Spirit, like gentleness, as a weakness while praising the ruthlessness of the state as a strength.
It looks like using Romans 13 to justify uncritical obedience to the “governing authorities,” no matter how unjust their actions might be, while forgetting that Paul immediately follows it with “Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.”
It looks like standing at the foot of Caesar’s throne and saying “This must be God’s will” while ignoring the crucified King who said, “My kingdom is not of this world.”
It looks like using the Bible to seek first the power of the empire rather than the kingdom of God.
It looks like worshiping power rather than loving God and our neighbors.
It looks nothing like Jesus.
Jesus called his disciples together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in high positions act as tyrants over them. It must not be like that among you.“ -Matthew 20:25-26

1/12 russia launches political party in Norway, using local collaborators/traitors to undermine support for Ukraine through an expensive ad campaign. Beware—this could happen in your country too!
In today’s May 9th Vatnik Soup, we discuss the ambiguous relationship of the Kremlin with Nazism and explain why so many vatniks can be outright Nazis, and promote or excuse them while at the same time being so hysterical about alleged “Nazis in Ukraine”.

Evil may have its hour, but God will have His day. This is one of the meanings enshrined in the story of Christ. Of His earthly suffering and death – and of His resurrection, and the truth that sooner or later, yet inevitably, evil will retreat, and life will triumph.
That is what we have wanted for all 1,152 days. We are united in this. Every day – and especially today, when Ukrainians of all Christian denominations celebrate Easter on the same date. Together. We fight for Ukraine together. And we pray for Ukraine together.
May evil’s hour end. May the day of life arrive. The day of peace. The day of Ukraine. The day that lasts for centuries. And we will be able to come together again. At one table. On a peaceful Easter.
May all this come true.
May God help us in this.
May there be peace. May there be Ukraine.
Christ is Risen!
He is Risen Indeed!
Totta.

Frederick Herzberg on joskus osuvasti todennut: "If you want someone to do a good job, give them a good job to do."
Father Makarii from Brazil, known as Padre, left his homeland to serve both God and Ukraine on the battlefield.
Padre is an Orthodox priest who was born and raised in Brazil in the Ukrainian diaspora. The reason why he came to Ukraine and joined the 2nd International Legion of Defense of Ukraine is to "serve God and the people of this country."
Father Makarii serves as a military chaplain, supporting soldiers spiritually and helping them in their everyday lives. He considers it his "spiritual mission" not only to fight but also to teach the legionnaires about the history of Ukraine and motivate them. Every day the chaplain writes texts on his socials explaining the depth of the conflict with Russia, which has made him a target for Russians who have called him "a Nazi."
Padre also supports the military of all faiths, finding common ground even with atheists and Muslims. His principle is to talk not about religion but about God "because there is only one God."
Father Makarii noted that now, Ukraine is his new home: "I have no intention of returning to my country after the war is over. I want to stay here in Ukraine and help Ukrainians. I am ready to give my life for this nation."
Glory!
Mariupolin teatteripommituksesta kolme vuotta.

Dutch public broadcaster @omroepntr sketch on recent events. Any resemblance to Trump is strictly coincidental.
