Posts are circulating commenting on Egypt's economy. They claim that "Egypt’s inflation rate is 15.2%/yr. Egypt's money supply is growing at 16.9%/yr. That's ABOVE Hanke's Golden Growth rate of 11.1-15.1%/yr, a rate consistent with Egypt's 3-5%/yr inflation target." — These are one-trick-pony and misleading arguments. They dismiss the direction of travel and other economic indicators. Egypt’s inflation: 33% in 2023, 28% in 2024, 15.2% today. That’s an admirable trajectory, not a crisis. Net FDI hit a record high of $46.1bn last year—9th globally. External debt is down $15bn in six months. CBE policy rate is at 27.25%. GDP is accelerating. Inflation is cost-push from global politics, energy crisis and devaluation. Egypt’s economy is doing better. 🇪🇬
