This feels like when you really are at home in that skin of yours and in this world, and then you let go...it comes easy in a place like this. Wouldn't you want to experience that feeling? Above Paro valley at Dargay Phangtsho at over 4200mts.

Women slowly heading home after their rounds at the Buddha Dordenma. It's a great way of combining spiritual practice with exercise, nothing wrong there....but with sun barely out till 5pm , it can get cold really fast now... so #respect@maidenbhutan#humble#bhutan
The takin is a bizarre looking animal. To me, it looks a bit like a greyhound from the rear, a ram and sometimes like a cow from different angles. At the Takin Reserve in Thimphu. What so you think #wildlife@maidenbhutan #travellers#bhutan#happiness#holiday#vacation
Going back home is always gratifying because members of the community come out to greet you with a local brew called Ara(tastes like Sake), butter tea & snacks. Here, you will also notice incense sticks to purify the air of malignant spirits that may have followed you.

"A picture is worth a thousand words." This one strikes at nostalgia and its ability to question our purpose in life, or so we felt... A picture from a calendar, depicting life in rural Bhutan.

A woman displays her goods of beautifully handwoven textil at the market. Her sister from Pemagatshel, a district in the east, sent it here as these fetch a decent profit in the capital. Within minutes of the display, people began flocking to admire $ haggle for the best price.
We watched the sun go down on a mountain top - at this altitude, the sun sets very fast and we are in complete darkness within minutes..... But this memory still lingers.....Above Paro valley, where I left a piece of hope - for when I might need it next.

These young monks were part of and led the procession announcing the arrival of a VIP to their community. You will notice they are not wearing shoes because they simply cannot afford it. Such is life.

The monsoon has been a damper on our hikers, but it seems to accentuate the view. Above Paro valley, where a short hike turned into an open-air shower. Still loved getting out to breathe the mud.

"If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere." - Van Gogh.
The air and the vegetation gets thinner after 4500mts, but the sky opens up with extraordinary views for us to soak in. In the east of Bhutan.

Shopping in Bhutan can never be boring, when the goods on display may include femur, skull bowl, bodhi and coral beads and wooden bowls lined with silver. Just another day out in town, eh?
