Baltics:

Yeah like... every single day since we've been independent.
I'd focus my alarmism on the European countries who have spent 30 years complacently sucking their thumbs.
NATOs Baltic states and Finland are rapidly preparing to defend against a Russian attack border fortifications near the Suwałki Gap and along the Finnish border have been rapidly sped up a particular focus is on a defence against drone or sabotage attacks.
Wow...
I'm old enough to remember the last time Russia tried its "little green men" strategy in Tallinn. Those people ended up handcuffed to the closest lamp post.
Every "the Baltics are next" post forgets that we have a lot of practice in dealing with Russian violence

Kui (noore) riigi poliitilised juhid on nõrgad ja asjatundmatud, võtavad riigi juhtimise üle isiklikku kasu jahtivad tegelased; mh seetõttu, et nende tegutsemist saavad nõrgad poliitilised juhid esitleda endapoolse poliitikakujundamise ning tegutsemisena. Sammud allakäigutrepil.
The 🇮🇪Triple Lock's flaw has always been its juvenile worldview. The UN isn't some ultimate do-gooder. Handing it your sovereignty (dictators and all) while snubbing democracies that actually defend their values will catch up with you sooner rather than later. Hope it's worth it.
I've been asked, more than once, when we'll get rid of Putin.
The honest answer: dictatorships only change by armed means. Either through violence or the threat of it.
The Russian democratic opposition is mostly the educated urban class. The regime knows it and has shown it will kill its own citizens to stay in power — a threshold most people, in any country, would struggle to meet in numbers large enough to matter.
So we don't set ourselves the task of an immediate regime change. We set ourselves a different task: be ready for the day after, have a vision, and make the most of that short window of opportunity so no Putin 2.0 happens.
The goal – as always – is to sow fear, uncertainty and doubt. The response – as always – is one of resolve and strength. There is only one way to end this war – Russia must lose. 5/
NATO fighter jets shot down a drone over Estonia today. The propaganda war has already kicked off – Russia is arguing that it proves Estonia (and Latvia) is allowing its airspace to be used for attacking Russia. Worth thinking what their plan is with that kind of messaging. 1/
NEW: A NATO Baltic Air Policing jet shot down a stray Ukrainian drone over Estonia's Lake Võrtsjärv on Monday — the first such intercept over Estonian territory.
The UAV likely drifted off course due to Russian electronic warfare jamming.
Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur said Latvia provided advance warning, enabling early detection.
Baltic states had previously avoided shooting down errant Ukrainian drones to limit escalation.
The goal is to get a win on the psychological side. They want Estonians scared that we are being “pulled into” this war. They want Western commentators to worry about “those crazy Balts pulling us into that war”. 4/
