@DrChrisCombs other VTOL aircrafts try hard to come up with clever ways how to tilt rotors or direct thrust between flight modes. Simplicity and pragmatism of this design are indeed appealing.
Fixed propellers remove tons of complexity, points of failure and maintenance costs in the long run.
@the_transit_guy from my european POV, it's crazy that city of this size needs so much car infrastructure. Parallel highways on both sides of river are not needed. It seems logical to remove I-91 running through downtown riverfront and replace it with a nice boulevard.
@tomwhoscontrary@alesanmanoweb@DrChrisCombs Space shuttle was doing just that with long controlled reentry and it got super hot. No such thing as gentle aerobraking from orbital speeds.
It sure seems like food prices are heading higher. Ukraine and Russian are too important in fertilizer and farming not to impact prices. So it begs the question when will we stop using food for fuel? Do bio fuel subsidies make sense in a time when we are gonna have a food crisis?
@yinzerchemist@NorthmanTrader Turkey probably due to high inflation. Slovakia due to crazy monetary policy - inflation has been 2-3% here while mortgage rates are 0.5%. Also, almost all mortgages are rate adjustable. What could possibly go wrong?
Holt, mame vladu aku sme si kolektivne zvolili. Chyb bolo vela, ale samotne testovanie so spravnou komunikaciou zlepsi situaciu (vid Orava, Nitra)
@mskakala@i_matovic fortunately we can evaluate your hypothesis using Czech Republic as baseline with similar covid situation in early January, measures and no mass testing. It appears that testing did not make the situation worse, if anything it lowered R0 slightly
@mskakala I don't think we are at peak deaths until hospital occupancy starts dropping. Again, covid is not over and won't be for months even after we peak. Pool of people that can get infected is still very large - nowhere near herd immunity.
@mskakala it's very premature to say "covid is over" like you did, when number of people in hospitals is at record high = actual predictor of future deaths. Sure, mobility is down, but I'd bet majority of people get infected at home, work or family visits now
@mskakala someone needs to report the death, perform autopsy, run tests on samples... It's done by humans who take days off. Why do you think there is such variability between weekdays and weekend?
