Thank you to all those who support the work that @coalition4jhr and I do. Your financial support is critical. As a federally registered charity, you get a tax receipt. The vast amount of funds goes directly towards the clients we serve. $10 per month, helps with phone minutes, emergency accommodation, bus tickets, etc. https://t.co/AhAOOc34UB
"That consent has not been sought. It has not been given. Nor will it be given under duress or through any process designed to circumvent our constitutional rights."
Treaty 8 First Nations Chiefs send letter to Premier Danielle Smith, as well as Prime Minister Mark Carney, demanding the Alberta government immediately cease any attempt to proceed with a separation referendum or related process without full consultation, accommodation and the free, prior, and informed consent of the Treaty 8 First Nations.
I first walked into Edmonton Youth Court in 1989, helping a 15-year-old boy obtain an extension on his community service hours. Since then, I have returned thousands of times, working alongside tens of thousands of young people and families as they navigated some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
I am grateful to be returning again on Wednesday and Thursday mornings as a member of @coalition4jhr.
Much has changed over the years. Youth Court has lost its youth workers. @EFryNAlberta had its funding stripped and is no longer present. The full-time youth probation officer position has been removed. Children's Family Services is rarely there.
The only constants are the young people and their families.
Many arrive frightened, isolated, and unsure where to turn. They sit in hallways waiting for their names to be called, often without support, guidance, or anyone to explain what is happening, while large systems make decisions that can alter the course of their lives and the lives of their families.
That is why I will keep showing up. To ensure that no young person or parent feels completely alone as they face one of the most difficult days of their lives. #abpoli
Wrong. I'm one of the 400,000 and I knew exactly what I was signing. I don't want a referendum. I want you and your fellow MLAs making your stance clear in a legislative vote. Don't gaslight Albertans.
I need podcast recommendations for a 9yr old and 12 yr old. The boys love funny, science based, spooky, mystery etc. Doing a screen free summer and have lots of books and games but need some down time stuff.
This is crazy that in all likelihood I will be taking these children into a Children's Services office for a life in care.
