🚀 @zama Confirms Its 2 Genesis Operators: @Figment_io & @conduitxyz
What are they & why do they matter? Let’s break it down.
🔹 What is a Genesis Operator?
A Genesis Operator for the Zama Protocol is one of the first trusted infrastructure nodes that help launch and secure the network. Zama uses operators to run critical components like KMS nodes 🔑 and FHE coprocessors ⚙️.
Genesis Operators are chosen based on reputation 🌟, infrastructure experience 🏗️, and meaningful contributions ✅.
They are visible 👀 and incentivized to behave honestly; misbehavior can damage their reputation and business.
🔹 Why Do We Need Genesis Operators?
Zama uses complex, risk-sensitive technologies (Fully Homomorphic Encryption, MPC, threshold decryption). Trusted parties reduce early-stage risks ⚠️.
In a Delegated Proof-of-Stake model, operators have high influence 🏛️. Malicious or incompetent operators could harm the network.
Early-stage vulnerability: fewer participants, smaller stakes, higher centralization risks. Strong genesis operators help safely navigate this phase 🛡️.
🔹 Figment & Conduit: What Will They Do?
They provide infrastructure to run KMS 🔑 and Coprocessor ⚙️ roles.
🔐 Key Management Service (KMS)
Decentralized network of nodes generating, managing, and using FHE keys 🔑 via MPC protocols 🤝.
No single party holds the full decryption key; it’s split among multiple parties.
Operations require a threshold number of participants, enhancing security and robustness 🛡️.
⚙️ Coprocessor
Handles heavy FHE computations 🔒 on encrypted smart contract data.
Verifies encrypted inputs and zero-knowledge proofs ✅.
Maintains a replica of the host chain’s Access Control Lists (ACLs) 📜.
Stores encrypted data for decryption or bridging 🌉.
Zama plans 13 KMS 🔑 + 5 Coprocessors ⚙️ initially. Today, a third operator might be revealed—possibly Certus One, Blockdaemon, Chorus, or another 🤔.

Zama Feature Project
Today I explored a project featured by @zama — @ZaifferProtocol 🔐
Zaïffer is a privacy-first DeFi layer powered by Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) that lets anyone make any token private on any EVM chain.
It enables confidential payments, swaps, and lending — all while staying compliant. ⚙️
Public blockchains offer transparency, but they also create vulnerabilities — every detail is visible to anyone with a blockchain explorer 👀
Zaïffer flips this 🔄
By leveraging FHE, it allows computations on encrypted data without ever decrypting it — meaning your financial actions stay private yet fully functional within DeFi. 💫
Their vision is clear: make financial privacy accessible, scalable & compliant for everyone. They’re building ZaïfferPay, ZaïfferSwaps & ZaïfferYields 💼💱
Notably, Zaïffer introduces Auditable cTokens, enabling selective transparency for regulators — balancing privacy with compliance ⚖️
They’re coming soon with advanced tools for both individuals & businesses 🌍

Concrete ML! Not Only On-chain But Ai Too
Today I want to share my insights on Concrete ML that uses @zama FHE.
🧠 What is Concrete ML?
Concrete ML is Zama’s open-source, privacy-preserving machine learning framework built on Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) — meaning we can train and run models on encrypted data without ever decrypting it! 🔐
It’s designed for data scientists who may not be cryptography experts but still want to ensure total privacy while using familiar tools like scikit-learn and PyTorch.
🎯 Why Zama Built Concrete ML
Machine learning models are trained on data — and most real-world data is private and sensitive, including medical records, financial transactions, personal messages, etc.
This model training and testing process can risk exposing that data.
To solve this, Zama introduced Concrete ML, which uses Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) — a cryptographic technique that allows computation directly on encrypted data.
This means:
🔸 Data stays encrypted from start to finish
🔸 The server or model never sees the actual (plaintext) data
🔸 Only the data owner can decrypt the results
Before Concrete ML, using FHE was complex and impractical for most ML developers. So Zama’s goal is:
🔹 To make FHE usable by normal ML developers (no cryptography background needed)
🔹 To let them train and infer on encrypted data using familiar tools like scikit-learn and PyTorch
🔹 To create a foundation for AI systems where users’ data never leaves their control
⚙️ Concrete ML Features
🔐 1. Inference on Encrypted Data
Concrete ML allows machine learning models to make predictions directly on encrypted inputs — meaning the model never sees the actual data.
🧠 2. Training on Encrypted Data
Normally, training requires access to the raw data — but Concrete ML allows training some models directly on encrypted data using FHE.
👉 This ensures privacy during both training and inference.
🔄 3. Automatic Model Conversion
You can use your existing models built with scikit-learn or PyTorch and automatically convert them into their FHE-compatible form using specialized functions.
🧮 4. Encrypted Data Preprocessing
Data preprocessing means refining the data — like removing irrelevant, corrupted, or incorrect entries and structuring it properly.
Concrete ML allows these operations to be done securely under encryption, ensuring the data remains private.
🤝 5. Federated Learning Compatibility
Federated Learning means training one big machine learning model using data from many different devices — without ever collecting that data in one place.
Concrete ML supports this approach, where:
🔸 Multiple clients train locally on their own data
🔸 Only encrypted parameters (key components of model training) are shared
🔸 Privacy is maintained even across different devices
⚠️ Concrete ML Limitations
🎯 1. Lower Accuracy (due to quantization)
Concrete ML converts models to use integers instead of floating-point numbers, which can slightly reduce model accuracy compared to the original version.
⏱️ 2. Slower Processing
Since computation on encrypted data is heavy, it’s much slower than standard machine learning.
It’s excellent for privacy — but not yet ideal for real-time applications.
🧩 3. Limited Training Support
Currently, Concrete ML can train only a few models (like linear models) on encrypted data.
More complex models (like large neural networks) can only perform inference, not full encrypted training yet.
🧮 4. No Full Pre/Post Processing
It doesn’t yet support every step of the ML pipeline — such as text-to-number conversion, feature scaling, or combining multiple model outputs.
These capabilities are still being developed.
🔚 Conclusion
Concrete ML is a major step toward making AI truly privacy-preserving, similar to how blockchain made systems transparent and trustless.
By combining Machine Learning with FHE, it ensures data remains encrypted even during computation.
While it’s still evolving in speed and model support, it’s paving the way for a future where AI and privacy can coexist seamlessly. 🔐✨
