My insects are made mostly from recycled paper. Their bodies are carved from rolls of it & their shells are cut & attached. Their legs are made from wire which I wrap with more paper & thread. The beetles can take from 30 mins - 3 hours to make & the butterflies take even longer.
A paper Pansy trio, one of the pieces that has just arrived at @ByardArt for their Home and Garden Exhibition which is on from the 23rd of April until the 23rd of May. #paper#botanical#sciart
In between all the botanicals I've been making the last few weeks, I've also been working on a collection of insects for another project! I'm taking part in Insect Odyssey, an exhibition all about insects at Sailsbury Museum which starts in June. #SciArt#insects#paperartist

It’s #FeatheredFebruary why was I not informed?
I’m Ben & I draw wildlife but if I was given free reign to only draw one kind it’d almost certainly be birds.

Fritillaria camschatcensis - its taken me weeks to finish these in between all the poor attempts at home schooling and lock down living but it's starting to feel like I might actually get back to work again soon.... #fingerscrossed#botanical#paper
The end of another week in #lockdown.... I made it into my work room on Monday, picked up the jars of pencil crayons the kids wanted for their homework and swiftly left. The jars are now living in the Kitchen because at least they get some use there! #MakersLife#workingfromhome
I have to admit, I've been struggling to get into the studio over the last few weeks and focus on work. We've been spending a lot of time outside where we have lots of forget-me-nots and other wild flowers popping up. Hoping they'll bring inspiration! #sciart#paper#wildflowers

Today I had great fun collaging a Silpha tristis, which my daughter found in a grassy field a couple of days ago. Thanks so much @AshWhiffin for identifying this lovely beetle! @SilphidaeUk #carrion#Silphidae#beetle#scientificillustration
