woke up to a gorgeous 57 degrees this morning - my peppers and eggplants might not be loving it, but the Shibas and I are! June in RI, when the humidity stays away, is one of my favorite months - no need for AC, comfortable 80 degrees during the day and 50's at night.
@fiago7 Here in Rhode Island/Southeastern Mass, we have a huge Cape Verde diaspora community, and they've been here since the whaling days - so when nobody had heard of Cape Verde, I was all - wait - how? So happy for them - Pawtucket and New Bedford are partying!
@GraemeShinnie The states take a lot longer to get through from here on out - you're going to think Virginia and the Carolinas are NEVER going to end - at least you're not going west where it takes 8 hours to drive through 1 state - We're spoiled here in the Northeast ;)
I hope the Tartan Army has a great time in Miami - it's going to feel like an entirely different country - different kinds of fun, but still fun - and please don't die from heat exhaustion - and that's no joke. You're going to wish you were back in the northeast, LOL
Happy National Sushi Day! ๐ฃ

@ScotlandNT@FIFAWorldCup Why fly into Boston when PVD is closer to the stadium and has less traffic to the stadium? The Patriots fly in and out of PVD and keep their planes there...
@TheTartanScarf For those staying in RI, there's one in Garden City Center in Cranston (about 5 miles from airport) - it used to be directly across the street from the airport but it moved a few years ago. Not walkable because it's all highway (and under construction)
I live in RI (about 5 miles south of Prov) and our only Costco is right next to Foxborough - it takes me half an hour to get there - there is no way on THIS day, it took half an hour - I don't go anywhere near there on game day and this is gonna be 100x worse than Pats game day
I am so happy for all the Scottish fans and players - top of group C? Who would have predicted that? And no matter how long it lasts, for right now, they are the top of their group! I cannot imagine the parties between now and the next game!
https://t.co/le8soxRzWW - if you can go, it's always a fun time - when I played in drum and bugle corps as a kid, we always marched in this one - and I can hear them staging it from my house - was wondering what that noise was when I was out watering my garden earlier...
Ahhhh, the humidity finally broke - gonna be a gorgeous day, so going into the city for all the World Cup fun might be manageable today. Can't decide if I'm gonna watch the match from home or go to Dave's Bar and Grill
@cal3d0nia Like, dude, I am so far removed that I don't even know where the Hebrides are - which is why I put the question mark... not trying to culturally appropriate, LOL - and because we're such a mix, DNA is fun, like a parlor game or roulette...
According to ancestry DNA I am only 11% Scottish (specifically Hebrides?) and 40% English - but I have decided Scotland is my team because they are so much FUN. I'm also 8% Irish and the rest French with a weird 2% Swedish - that's my exotic flavoring - so yeah, American, LOL
@cal3d0nia Maybe my joke that my exotic flavoring being swedish fell flat through the medium of text, but that's what it was - and jokes dont work when you have to explain them so I'll stop now
@cal3d0nia For fun - that's all - and like I said later in the thread, I don't think I'm actually any of those things - I'm an American mutt - and pretty proud of that - and I get all these different teams to choose from!
Yes, Americans are mutts and since I'm a New Englander who can trace back 400 years here and my French are original Canda settlers, I don't actually think I'm any of these Europeans showing up in my DNA, but it's fun to have teams to root for other than USA - choices for the win!
And while I was psyched to see the US win last night, they aren't playing anywhere near here, so I'm team Scotland (who have 2 of their 3 games in my backyard, basically)
