@ch3ttmanly@Itsme53139857@cirogalli @seno4_seno @Enezator Part 3- as long as the person has no pulse, in order to move blood along their body, acting as their pulse. In summary this is a cardiac arrest. It can happen from anything- a heart attack can cause it. A heart attack is just clogged heart arteries. I hope that helps
@ch3ttmanly@Itsme53139857@cirogalli @seno4_seno @Enezator Continues- if the heart is in one of two “shockable” rhythms the defibrillator will shock them. These rhythms are akin to the heart sort of wiggling or vibrating. If the heart is completely still- flat line- no shock will help. This entire time, continue cpr
@ch3ttmanly@Itsme53139857@cirogalli @seno4_seno @Enezator Cardiac arrest simply means what it says. Your heart stops beating in an organized way. If there is no pulse, there is cardiac arrest. If there is no pulse, start cpr and attach a defibrillator. The heart may have some electrical activity, or a rhythm.
@AAPSOPT A6. Being committed to decoloniality is paramount to success! Choose trips that align with your goals, but be open and adaptable-- GH may have a winding path. #PedsGH2023
@AAPSOPT A5. I chose @jhpedsresidency because of leadership's commitment to GH track, the pre-curriculum, and network of mentors. Our PD has a passion for GH that was evident from interview day (and in this pic!) #PedsGH2023
@AAPSOPT A4. Ask about a pre-trip curriculum! At @jhpedsresidency, we have a 2-week global health course (in-person, locally) that is intended to prepare residents to provide culturally humble care. #PedsGH2023
@NatalieLays@AAPSOPT If reaching out to a program ask if there are any current residents who are passionate about GH and what they're doing and if you can get their email too!
@AAPSOPT A2. The most important thing in a #globalhealth residency program is dedication to decolonization of GH and longitudinal projects that promote sustainability. As a GH track resident, it is crucial to return to the same place. #PedsGH2023
