Help us get a better understanding of the number of #echidnas in #QLD - if you see one, alive or dead, please let us know at the Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland.
Can you spot the echidna? This year some of my students have been searching for #echidnas using camera traps. These were captured in the Lockyer Valley region, QLD.
Want to learn about magnificent monotremes? Sign up for engaging talks, a walk and craft activities - you can make your own #platypus or #echidna keyring! #wildlifequeensland
My current research is investigating #echidna distribution and abundance in SEQLD in collaboration with #wildlifequeensland. Here are some critters we have captured on camera recently!
@RickiCoughlan The way the echidna was using their beak looks very much like she was laying her egg (as it exits the cloaca, they use their beak to guide it to the pouch- it doesn't take very long at all. I've watched numerous echidnas in captivity do that exact behaviour when laying their egg.
Thanks to #LoganCityCouncil#EnviroGrants, I'll be running #echidna workshops and walks in Logan (QLD) this winter - perfect timing as they start coming out for the breeding season (June-October).
Did you know the females pouch is temporary? Want to learn more? Follow me!
Does anyone use AI tools for summarising research papers or assisting with any other parts of the research/writing process- what's your preferred tool/s?
Another great #Echidna Explorers Workshop this morning. Had some amazing echidna artwork produced by this group.
If you in QLD and see an echidna, please report it to EchidnaWatch - https://t.co/vRQVvKtv94
Got to love getting reviewer comments back like this - 'This is a well written manuscript on an important topic that has broad applications to the wildlife health and conservation field'. My first solo research paper -thank you, reviewer 2!
