Drawing on Simone Weil, philosopher Kathryn Lawson argues it’s essential we relearn how to genuinely attend to others and reclaim our mental autonomy.

@saditious A really interesting and insightful conversation. And great reading suggestions. I agree about The Pythagorean Doctrine- such an important text. Bravo!
Weil and her readers deserve better than this warmed over misogyny of past men who wrote biographies of her.
Weil scholars don't consider Gravity & Grace to be a useful source for her thought. And this is a terrible misreading of The Need for Roots.
Jane was a champion of Weil scholarship, an inspiring colleague, and a friend to all. I feel so grateful to have had her encouragement, grace, and intelligence at the book launch last week. The Weil community will not be the same without her.
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of E. Jane Doering, a member of our community for over 30 years and an influential and artful scholar of Simone Weil's thought.
