i don’t know how someone could look at their niece/nephew(s) and think “yeah i’m okay with just seeing them on major winter holidays” & i want more for my own child
if i died at the same age as my mother i would have 10 years left on this earth, she had a 1 year old son, she didnt get to see her babies grow up, she didn’t get to LIVE & that haunts me so much. it felt like she was so much older when i was little — 37 years isn’t a whole life
parents who are openly hateful about having children & complain constantly is weird 2 me yes having a baby os so tiring but do i regret it? absolutely not, i also made a conscious decision to have a HUMAN & didn’t just have a cute baby bc i felt like that was the “next step”
there’s a side of social media that wants you to think being a parent is easy if you follow certain practices or do specific things & if your child doesn’t fit into that mold then you can just shape them into what they’re “supposed” to be doing or acting & that is so wrong
“baby led weaning”, “baby schedules”, night time routines, it’s just all so ridiculous. you’re keeping a tiny life alive, & if you feel like you’re not doing enough you just need to ignore that voice in your head telling you that
being a parent is so so hard & if you have to do things “differently” because that is what works for you and your family then you’re doing everything you’re supposed to be doing !!! i hate the way social media has messed with the perspective of new parents
my little brother graduated nursing school and listening to all their reasons why they chose nursing is so bittersweet. i’m so happy there are bright new nurses coming into the field but at 4 years in i’m already so jaded just shows how broken our healthcare system is
the moms that didn’t leave their children for the first 6 months of their lives are not the people you should be comparing yourself to, get away it is OKAY
if i can offer one piece of very benifical advice to new moms it’s IGNORE the mom guilt & leave your child even for an hour at a time to do something for YOU — not grocery shopping, not cleaning, but something to bring you closer to your “old” self
i’ve never felt like i have to leave a list for my husband to be able to take good care of OUR child & the fact that so many women can’t trust their own husbands to do the same is just sad - men are capable & you should choose better for your babies
until you become a mother you do not realize how inadequate you were at being there for your friends & family that became mothers before you - and the cycle continues with your own friends and family that have yet to have children when it comes to being there for you
the moms club is the most inclusive club i’ve ever been apart of, you just have to have a baby & other moms are just there patiently waiting to help you with open arms 🥹
