@NickyHasNoHalo @wormfingers And, learning the simplified mechanics on a vintage machine can teach you a lot more than the "plug in and go everything is easy" of modern machines. Modern industrial machines still function the way vintage machines do :)

@NickyHasNoHalo @wormfingers Yeah! If ur new to sewing on a machine, vintage metal straight stitchers like Singer 99k can be a great budget conscious choice. They can hold value better than a new machine cause they're already used, if you decide to sell/don't enjoy the hobby.

@wormfingers @NickyHasNoHalo ok, thread? Anyway, unless you want to shell out $$$ you can't sew thick leather. The thing you most need to know is how to handle going over a bulky seam. You can get a little wedge thing to help and you have. to. go. slow.

@wormfingers @NickyHasNoHalo I'm extremely bad with twitter but maybe can help. Something about a sewing machine that can work leather and denim? That can be a tough pick. I recommend vintage all metal machines for strength and durability, but they do require more work.
