when I did a french exchange trip in high school my host family taught me the swear word version of a regular word and I didn't realize and then when I got home my french teacher was so horrified at me for saying it but I was just trying to to use my new vocab :(

the phrasing is official sounding enough that I almost wouldn’t blame students for believing it’s ethical or okay. like they’re openly saying it on tv and providing convincing enough language that I could see high schoolers genuinely thinking there’s nothing wrong with it.
