Unlike the LA Times & Washington Post who are owned by billionaires, the Philadelphia Inquirer is owned by The Lenfest Institute for Journalism, a non-profit org. The Philadelphia Inquirer is the largest newspaper in America operated as a public-benefit corporation
ANSIRH's @katelich has been studying how people talk about abortion in the news, particularly after the Dobbs decision in 2022.
Listen to this @NPR story about how more women who were denied an abortion are going public with their stories.

Proud to have been interviewed and have my research on abortion in US newspapers cited for this piece on @NPR@MorningEdition. @ANSIRH https://t.co/Vb2zbBhbgi
Aha! Dr. Marchand wants peer-reviewed literature on the impact of abortion bans in the US. I love talking about the data and educating my colleagues.
Let’s walk through the literature, shall we?
New research from me -- a review of the last 5 years of peer-reviewed literature on abortion on U.S. television and film. Fun to read all this work and think about what's next: https://t.co/APcJ6EqHb7
(happy to share the PDF with anyone if you hit a paywall!)
Hiiii! Check @i_need_an_a for your nearest clinic or pills. You can safely self-manage an abortion with pills.
Complications are rare, but if you have any call @MA_Hotline. Don’t talk to cops but reach out to @reprolegalfund if you need them.
Euki is so much more than a period tracker.
There’s resources from trusted health experts about abortion, contraception, sexually transmitted infections, and more; plus, vetted avenues for support, including telehealth clinics and organizations providing free legal help.

As we commemorate the 4th of July in a nation where democracy is buckling under an attack from the inside, I have chosen to remind myself that for the last five years of traveling nonstop across the country to talk about the 1619 Project, I have met Americans from every walk of life who have been so kind, so generous, so willing to learn and discuss and sit in the discomfort of the truths of this nation’s founding and what it was built on, and who believe that in confronting that truth, we can build the nation of our highest ideals.
A woman I met in Connecticut gave me this brooch she was wearing when I admired it and when I said no, just tell me where to purchase it, told me, “My spirit is telling me to give this to you.” This man in Easton, Maryland, proudly asked me to autograph his 1619 jersey and has put his own money and resources towards building a rec center and educational facility for the Black youth of his town. And this kind stranger sent me a note, worried about how tired I looked on a television program and encouraged me to take care of myself.
THIS is the America I choose to remember today. THIS I believe is the majority. THESE are the people we must gather to fight to build a country that we all deserve. This is the beauty of our multiracial democracy, of our country, the potential never fully realized. This is the America that we must fight for today.
