@globeandmail The only reason they’re battling it is because they know their commission will drop (and house prices will drop)… otherwise they wouldn’t care.
@jtienhaara Very frustrating. I’ve noticed at work how far behind in tech and infrastructure NS is compared to other places I’ve lived. It’s so interesting since we have so many universities. You’d think they would join up with them more often to research this stuff.
@HalifaxNorthEnd @hfxgov@LindellSmithHFX Same happened on Maynard. Both sides of the street. Called 311 and best they could do was put a crosswalk from one closed sidewalk to the other lol. @LindellSmithHFX didn’t ever respond when I called him.
@paulisci Doesn’t matter. He needs Toronto and Montreal to shift to either conservative or ndp … which is doubtful. Doesn’t matter if all of Alberta votes for him, that won’t result in more seats.
@mbonsma Woohoo! We have a Prius and four bikes. Helps that we live close to my partners work so he can walk or bike, and in the city where we can walk for groceries/restaurants/parks. I need the car for my 50km commute… and to get out to the trails for my doggo.
@prezhfxchamber@halifaxchamber@infomorning We can tax out of province AND airbnbs. It doesn’t need to be one or the other. This tax might actually kill two birds with one stone, since alot of people Airbnb out their places for the other 11 months they’re not here.
@gregpcox @globalhalifax People can still move here and not pay the tax… it’s for people who buy a property and don’t live here/pay taxes here and like Airbnb it out. It’s actually more attractive for people to move here. More housing to choose from.
@globalhalifax Good. If people can afford to fly out here for a couple of weeks a year and over bid for $100k on properties, they can afford the tax. It’s also to ensure speculators don’t buy up property. If you want to come live here, then come actually live here.
@MchaarMouna @JoeMunroEllis @CanadaSoccerEN North Macedonia (who just beat the latest euro champ italy to boot them from the WC) is ranked 63 in the world … Canada is 33. There’s always a chance. At least they’ll be going!
