JUST IN: A federal judge has just ORDERED Llano County Texas to return "all books" that were removed from their libraries due to their content or viewpoint.
Library patrons successfully argued that "content-based restrictions" were likely unconstitutional.
The Texas judge is also prohibiting the officials from removing any more books while a lawsuit remains pending.
The books that were banned included a book for teens that calls the Ku Klux Klan a terrorist group, Isabel Wilkerson’s “Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents” and a comedic children’s book with three stories from Dawn McMillan’s “I Need a New Butt!” series.
The decision could set wide reaching precedent in light of recent book banning in Florida, supported by Ron DeSantis.
What a great victory for books! 💙
So are we just not going to talk about the teacher who got shot by a 6 year old student? Are we just gonna pretend like this isn’t happening in public education? In the hospital with life threatening injuries…are we going to tell her to “remember her why” after this? Horrific.
Want to know something crazy? These are the nurses where my baby was delivered. I had a terrible experience. At one point, mom ran out for help because I was in pain, they said “Ok. Anyways…” and continued their conversation. That’s something my mother never forgot.
Please consider donating to my classroom as I prepare for the upcoming school year! I am a fourth grade teacher to approx. 60 students in Atlanta. If donating isn’t an option please consider retweeting! Thank you! https://t.co/lNXIHH9DT0 #clearthelist
I'm praying for every teacher in Indiana right now. The expectation for someone to post year long lesson plans by June is utterly ridiculous.
At this point, it seems as if people are creating ideas and laws to make teachers leave our profession.
I have a message for all the little girls and boys out there who dream of growing up to be superheroes: Superheroes walk among us.
They’re teachers, doctors, scientists, vaccine researchers—and you can grow up to be like them too.
@katiebrooke13 Surprisingly it appears even Fox is condemning the protestors. Just said National Guard and additional troops/officers ARE coming but that it’s “truly stunning” they’ve let it get this far. Like, no shit...
