a 6th grader in tx took her life bc she was getting bullied by kids telling her that they’re going to call ice on her parents + that she would end up alone.

The story of West Nile virus, from non-existent concern to major health threat, is a story of nature-destroying capitalist expansion. Yet it is never covered this way. The spread of the virus is inevitable and infection prevention up to you, spray and cover your skin
ALL of the SARS-CoV-2 studies from 2020-2023 are like “SARS-CoV-2 inflicts immense permanent damage to every organ system. It will be ESSENTIAL to follow up with every human who acquires Covid in order to monitor them for the onset of extremely serious complications—which often begin silently.”
And then we pretended the pandemic was over, while normalizing endless reinfection. No one is being monitored and doctors insist Covid is mild & benign. When folks show up with Covid complications that cannot be ignored, individuals and their lifestyles are blamed, instead of the virus.
FIVE YEARS of data & studies are aggressively memory-holed, & we are forced to continue pretending for profits & convenience.
philosophy chair getting arrested, an econ prof getting her head smashed against concrete, a street medic being held down and tased, snipers setting up vantage points to shoot at ohio state students -all because of nationwide protests against a genocide- you SHOULD be radicalized
We don’t have to continue to accept constant sickness, death & disability as our “new normal”. Nothing about this is normal. Humans have tremendous capacity to change & adapt in the face of threats and we are only failing to do it because the loudest voices lack the will. /16
FUNGUS IN SPACE!!! 🍄🚀
Equal parts cosmic horror and nature being metal, let's talk about the lichen that grew on the OUTSIDE of the International Space Station!
Get your tea and curl up, because I PROMISE you wanna hear about these fungal cosmonauts 🧑🚀

I'm going to print stickers that say "take your backpack off on crowded trains" and stick them on peoples foreheads when they bump into me 74385 times on a crowded train
One of the biggest letdowns from this pandemic was how I expected the accommodations that were created, to stay. The online school and work, Telehealth doctors, streaming new movies; I naively thought these would be a sign to move forward with accessibility. Ableism won again.
Happy #InternationalWomenInScienceDay! Thank you so much to all of the wonderful ladies that I’ve gotten to work with (and that #LlabLlama has gotten selfies with) over the years. Keep being the inspiration that you are.
Welcome to the first grad student to ever join my research group, Kat Nilov! Kat will be co-advised by myself and @ANKoppes, and will be doing some great educational research as a core component of their overall thesis.
