Pretty cool note I got from a tech CEO/founder who watched NCAAs about hiring wrestlers:
“I'll say this: without question my favorite hiring profile is a D3 All-American wrestler. You competed in the darkness. No lights, no crowd, sometimes literally no one watching. You showed up anyway and you figured it out. Give me 10 of those guys and they're worth 50 fancy Ivy League degrees. Every time. The mat doesn't lie.”
Thoughts?
The wrestlers competing here are the lifeblood of the sport. No NIL $, little fanfare. The end of the road for almost everybody. Just love of the game. Fighting like hell. That is what it’s all about.
If you are gonna pay big $$$ for transfers you gotta get ones who want to come and wrestle hard(like Caliendo) not just transfers who want to come collect a pay check
After its first defeat to Iowa State in 20 years I am offering my coaching services to help resurrect a once proud tradition of Iowa Wrestling. They need to bring back the uber aggressive style that Dan Gable created and everyone wanted to emulate. Recently the program has had a lack of development of athletes, a lack of offense, an inability to build an RTC and a reliance on spending $$$ of transfers to bolster their line up.
Did the Hawks shake hands after that dual? Hard to see from tv but appears after getting out worked in a dual they also couldn’t handle shaking hands. That’s definitely not showing any toughness or grit.
Four Kohawks earn all-American status, Bryce Parke advances to national semifinals on opening day of NCAA Wrestling Championships.
