This is a discouraging day for so many people across our country and around the world. But make no mistake: Nothing ends here.
While many of us hoped for a different outcome, we knew that this was a possibility. Advocates, activists, and champions for Americans of all backgrounds and identities have prepared for this moment, and they are ready to work at all levels using every tool at their disposal to ensure that progress keeps moving forward.
Over the next four years, we will see heroic work across our country—in our state legislatures, in our court system, in community organizations distributing frontline services, and everywhere in between. I am committed to being part of those efforts and know that I will be just one of tens of millions of people who are ready to work together to prove that no matter who holds the office of the president, the United States will continue its march to a more equal future.
You still have your family.
You still have your friends.
You still have your work.
You still have your passions.
You still have your diversions.
You still have the capacity to feel joy, and the means of doing so.
You still have your mind, which is and will always be yours alone.
And you still have the ability, no matter how difficult it may seem, to choose to carry on with your life, and spend the one and only existence you will get for all eternity in as loving, fulfilling, and authentic a way as you possibly can.
There is one critical takeaway here. Kamala Harris was not the problem. She had great policy. She had strong values. She had a superb message. She had a stellar ground game. She had immense energy and compassion and love for America. Don't let anyone convince you otherwise.
For those who wondered how American society allowed the sins of our past, realize that tonight Trump won the majority in spite of his lack of character and integrity. He demonstrated his racism, misogyny, xenophobia and tried to overthrow the government with an insurrection with any accountability or consequence. He is celebrated for his strategy of packing the court that will ultimately give him immunity and throw out his convictions. His indictments will disappear. This says everything about our society. We absolved this behavior by electing him. A celebration of criminality.
@TheRealHoarse I did a lot of calling for Harris in multiple states. Everyone I spoke to had either already voted for her or had a plan to do so. No one was sitting this one out 🤞
@GabbieKDrice @mwash52 I spoke to an older gentleman in Milwaukee today (phone bank) and he thought he had another week. So I handed him off to a wonderful person like you and they are making a plan. Thank you
I joined a Wisconsin call team of over 300 (!!) people for Harris this morning. The people I spoke to had either already voted or had a clear plan and each one of them voted straight blue. I’ll be back at it tomorrow. ALL GAS NO BRAKES! #WisDems

The S&P has grown 51% since Biden took office, surpassing the markets of other rich countries, as well as Trump’s growth at the same time in his presidency. @Morning_Joe
