@chambleebrandel What would people say if China bought the PGA? Or Russia? It would never be allowed, and would create chaos. Somehow, because the Saudis are the US's ally their behaviour can be overlooked.

@chambleebrandel I agree that Rory was genuine and articulate in his comments yesterday, taking the high road (as Brandel did, saying, it is not personal, it is about the game of golf). But in the end it was the money, with no regard for where it comes from. The Saudis have bought pro golf.

Love it. Anti-trust lawyer calling new merged golf entity a “cartel”. Looks good on Saudi Arabia, not so much the PGA. I know the world is complicated, but I feel like the lines between right and wrong, democracy and autocracy are being slowly blurred.

In one of his first acts as a City Councillor, Daniel Tetrault moved the motion to remove and destroy 21 acres of sensitive wetlands from Fraser Foreshore Park. Alison Gu seconded the motion. I would say forget any claims they are environmentalists.

2004 Burnaby City report says specific wetlands parcel Council wants to get rid of is “a primary breeding habitat for a variety of bird species” and that it uniquely within the park provides a refuge to deter predator, such as foxes and coyotes.
