I hate when the opposing side is like "this is our standard agreement." Yeah, thanks for sending it over as a PDF—I'm definitely just going to agree to these unilateral terms and this insane indemnity clause
We cannot normalize ICE inserting itself into our daily lives.
Here is a reminder: ICE agents do not belong at airports. ICE agents do not belong at polling stations. ICE agents do not belong undermining our rights and hurting our communities.
Lindy West wrote about fat stigma as a systemic issue and a social justice concern. The idea that her work was primarily a "petty" individualistic grievance is fatphobic in and of itself.
This is such a wildly bad take. Not only did Lindy West co-found “Shout Your Abortion,” but those “petty individualistic grievance politics” were absolutely transformative and revolutionary for fat women, not “fiddling.”
I would add that I and a lot of younger millennials I know harbor resentment toward the Lindy Wests of the world for the time and words wasted on petty individualistic grievance politics while we lost all right to control our own bodies. Jezebel fiddled while Roe burned.
Miller: Feminism in our country was founded to dismantle the family unit. If you look at the rise of feminism in our country it also correlates to a decline in birth rates. Feminism pushed women into the workplace.
Maybe read your bill?
The accepted forms of ID to vote under the SAVE Act:
1. Enhanced REAL ID: Only available in 5 states. Costs up to $50 (poll tax) and requires a birth certificate which 40M Americans lack access to.
2. Valid passport: 146M Americans do not have and costs at least $130 (poll tax). Trump gutted the agencies issuing them.
3. U.S. military ID card presented with military record of service.
4. Government-issued photo ID showing place of birth: 300M Americans do not have one, and costs up to $50 (poll tax).
5. Non-Enhanced REAL ID driver’s license, state ID, or tribal ID shown in conjunction with a birth certificate (40M lack access to) that matches your last name (which 69M women do not have due to marriage) and other forms of documentation, and which require a cost to obtain (poll tax).
If this was truly a voter ID bill, it would provide every eligible voter in the U.S. a voter ID, and provide them at no cost to align with the 24th Amendment — so why doesn’t your bill do that if voter ID is so popular?
Pentagon pegs daily cost of Iran War at $1.9 billion.
Which is annualized $687 billion.
For perspective, $687 billion could eliminate the income tax for every household up to $150,000 income.
Do people not realize that miscarriages usually don't happen in a hospital?
That there's no coffins or cremation?
A 13-week fetus is about two inches long. Almost every miscarriage I've ever heard of was over a toilet. There's not much else to do.
It’s really important as a society that we don’t become desensitized to the sheer brutality and evilness of a “skull being broken” by “immigration officers”.
“professional-grade logistics” and it’s literally a Costco haul
“complex encrypted network” and it’s literally a group chat
you people are so unserious
🚨 BREAKING: The “No-Go-Zone” in Minneapolis is getting fully stocked like a pop-up leftist supply depot, free hand warmers, winter gear, coffee, food, milk, you name it.
This is PROFESSIONAL-grade logistics. Someone is BANKROLLING this autonomous zone.
“in normal circumstances the agent would face criminal charges”
I regret to inform you, they would not. Police officers, especially federal agents, almost never face charges regardless of what they do to protesters or anyone else.
i know i am shouting into the wilderness on this point, but there's actually case law that cops aren't even allowed to pepper spray people for merely resisting arrest (let alone shoot them).
The most galling bit of propaganda is the repetition of "interfering with a police operation" when the "operation" was (illegally) beating up two women.
Was that after he was pepper sprayed or before he was pistol whipped? Kind of hard to say anything when you have six people slugging you at the same time.
Is the governments responsibility to show restraint.
