@ShanaVWhite I was in a virtual conference last week & it’s easy to tune out the session in your own home. I learn better in person. Also, I love the side conversations, the team building with your colleagues by traveling together, and the connections you make.
@rightandwrongg@Denielle425@BigTucsonDad Eastport was Walmart’s cheap brand of bookbags. Jansport was the expensive bookbag you had to go to the mall to get. Somehow, I managed to convince my grandma to buy me one because my parents refused to spend that much on a bookbag.
@Denielle425@BigTucsonDad I was thinking the same thing! I remember it being such a big deal that I got a Jansport in middle school because it was so much more expensive than the Walmart bookbags.
A heart-breaking moment saved in an SS picture of deportations of Hungarian Jews at Auschwitz II-Birkenau. It was taken 79 years ago, most likely in late May 1944.
A little child found a dandelion in the grass and is handing it or showing it to an older boy. All the people in this picture were waiting to be killed in gas chamber. They were murdered some time later.

Families say new retention law makes them reconsider public school - which is exactly the point, isn’t it? Continuing to undermine public schools is what TNGOP legislators want - if you cease to have an educated public - you cease to have democracy. https://t.co/IqR34A5NR9
When I was a building principal, we had a group of boys who were consistently getting office referrals during lunch for aggressive and disruptive behaviors. In the past, these behaviors had led to increasingly severe consequences that did not reduce the negative behaviors (and caused some students to be sent home and to miss instruction). I sat down with the group and we worked together to come up with a plan on what to do during lunch. One of the boys asked if we could start a knitting club, since his Auntie had recently taught him how to knit. Since he was a leader of the group, the other boys agreed. I asked them to come back tomorrow with some ideas of what to knit. The next day one of the boys said that he wanted to knit little hats for the preemies at the hospital, since his little cousin was there and that a nurse mentioned that they had run out of the little hats. The boys knitted daily and we delivered the hats to the hospital. We received many heartfelt thank you notes from families, nurses and doctors (and even an in-person visit with a personal thank you and cookies from a newborn's mom). This group continued to grow as did our ability to create knitted hats for preemies. This became a huge success for the participating students. There was significant improvement in the students’ behavior, attitude, achievement, and attendance. It is so important to think outside of the box for “win-win” solutions. It really isn’t the WHAT you do that is important, it is the WHY you are doing it! Our knitting group become a team, family, and community.

I don’t believe a single word coming out of Carl Latz’s mouth in this #HillsongDocumentary. Every word that comes out of his mouth seems calculated & inauthentic,
@CodingWCulture I teach high school and the kids have to be in the building at 6:50 am. It is awful. Some kids say they walk out to the bus at 4:45 am. It is ridiculous!
@BooksandMelanin I post academic related things to my “Teacher Twitter”, which is geared specifically for my students & my school. But I only post pictures of students whose parents have consented to it at the beginning of the year & that students consent to in the moment.
@tracyrenee70 There are so many things wrong with this video. She doesn't seem to have a good relationship w/her students. And where is the classroom management? These are kids just doing what they know they can get away with. But she wants to play victim & its not even targeted at her.
@hi_its_annaleah I also constantly rearranged my books! I LOVED Tetris & could spend all day playing it! (Now it's Suduko!)
Rearranging my room was my thing! My mom & dad would always joke that every time they came to wake me up for school, they didn't know what my room was going to look like!
@TaylorLewan77 I know this intersection very well - Thompson Ln. & Bransford Ave. in Nashville. This is a crazy intersection & there are accidents there all of the time. How dare this driver not drive his car into a busy intersection?! 😒
do you know how embarrassing life is when you are not a Beer Girl? the utterly humiliating experience of sitting in the pub with a large group of people all drinking some variation of bitter piss and ur stuck up ass is sat there sipping away on a drink with a lime wedge in it?
while i was deep in grief, i was researching brain waves & one thing i learned is that during severe depression/grief, we experience theta waves (which usually occur only before deep sleep) while we are awake. we literally sleepwalk through life due to sadness. just wild.
I have had a student that I have had to write up 3 times this year. Every time I email the mother surrounding the absurd behavior leading up to the referral, she ALWAYS responds back with, "She's a MyStErY!" typed like that & only that. What? Someone help me understand! Lol!
@michaelharriot I think 1 of 2 things:
1) It was the 2nd Baptist Church/2nd Methodist Church to open in that community,
2) They outgrew the 1st building & moved to a new location.
