I love how hard Trader Joe’s goes for Fall. Sept 1 hits and their store turns into an absolute shrine for pumpkin spice. Starbucks changes one item on their menu? HAHAH we change our entire store. Bagels? Pumpkin spice. Tuna salad? Pumpkin spice. Our employee Dave? Pumpkin spice
I blush when I think about all of us back in March. The crafts! The bread! Tiger King! Sending each other cutie pie Marco Polos! It’s like thinking about yourself in seventh grade
At the grocery. Wearing my mask. Lady behind me, snarky & loud enough to make sure I heard, “don’t guess she realizes that stupid mask won’t do any good.” Me: “Honey, I’m an off duty nurse, I’m wearing it to protect YOU. But, I can take it off if you’d like.” She practically ran.
You won't ever know if what you did personally helped. That's the nature of public health. When the best way to save lives is to prevent a disease rather than treat it, success often looks like an overreaction.
Controversial, but nurses need to stop glorifying not eating/drinking/peeing during busy shifts.
You gotta prioritize yourself so you can give the best care possible.
Also, I guarantee stuff can wait a few minutes for you to chug some water.
Ask for help when you need to!!!
My parents were addicts.
I missed out on a lot of the normal advice kids receive like, “Don’t sleep with people who don’t value you” and “Work hard. Be honest.”
You have to remember that what seems intuitive and basic for you, is precious and withheld from others.
