By combining two analytical tools — risk terrain modeling and conjunctive analysis — researchers can link location and risk of #terrorism. Discover more in a new NIJ-supported study by @UniversityOfArk and @RutgersU: https://t.co/HoDuoL4Nch

@uark_trc@uarkfulbright This brief was generated using data collected under a @OJPNIJ grant to create a federal terrorism court record repository. Project wraps 3/31 and will allow intel analysts, federal prosecutors, and researchers to access ATS data/docs via online platform. https://t.co/83eTGysSj8
New ATS research brief provides historical context of seditious conspiracy cases since 1980. Check it out here --> https://t.co/SFUehUuaaG #uarkresearch@uarkfulbright
Reading through seditious conspiracy (18 USC 2384) cases in the American Terrorism Study database. Statute used across decades against a mix of groups: Fuerzas Armadas de Liberación Nacional, United Freedom Front, Covenant Sword and Arm of the Lord, Portland Seven, etc. (1/3)
It's not a common charge and has led to mixed outcomes - previous ATS research shows defendants in terrorism cases opt for trial more than those in conventional criminal cases & defendants charged w/ §2384 do so at an even higher rate. Several have been acquitted at trial. (2/3)
"The three-year project is one of the most comprehensive investigations to date examining risk factors for violent, non-violent, and cyber extremism, spanning across multiple terrorist ideologies."
