Great news! A new bill has just been put forward in Iceland's parliament that would ban whaling for good and prohibit the export or sale of whale products.
Representatives of four of Iceland's political parties are backing the bill, arguing that whaling is against the nation's laws, public opinion and cultural heritage.
This is brilliant news and brings us one step closer to making Icelandic whaling history!

Did you know whales help fight #climatechange?
1: Whales support the growth of plankton, which stores 40% of all carbon produced
2: A 1% increase in phytoplankton productivity is equivalent to 2 billion mature trees
There will be no whaling in Iceland this summer! ๐ฅณ
This is HUGE!
Together with the support of other marine charities and a public outcry in Iceland and abroad, we've saved around 150 fin whales from a painful and horrific death this year.
The Icelandic Government's own advice is that the "method used when hunting large whales does not comply with the Animal Welfare Act." The Minister of Food, Svandรญs Svavarsdรณttir has made it clear that unless the government and license holders can guarantee to meet the welfare requirements (which it can't), whaling has no future!

I donโt think people realize that it is perfectly fine to be pro-life for your own body, but you canโt force that on someone elseโs body. That is their decision.
