I was happy to report bugs.
But I never thought of preventing bugs.

But, we can report zero bugs-by preventing them.

It is a great strategy. For sure.

I started my career in early 2000.
Executing test cases and reporting bugs. These were my tasks then.Only tasks.

Reporting was about numbers only.
Number of test cases executed each day. And the number of bugs reported each day. The report was extended to weekly and monthly time frames.

I once got an award for reporting the maximum number of bugs. Wow !!

Quick Tip

If the release is for a configuration setting or a one-click rollback toggle, you don’t need to have full fledged regression testing.

Run a smoke test that confirms the toggle works.
Then ship. Monitor.

Why?
A fast rollback cuts the impact radius to seconds.

Trust is the foundation.

As a tester, your ability to build trust will directly impact the success of project or product.

How can you earn trust?

1. By delivering consistently
2. Being honest and transparent

But, the problem here is we don't do anything 'extra'.
And we expect the promotion.
Which will not happen.
Competition is very high. We have to perform better. Have to come out of complacency. Automation is not the only thing.

I am not getting promotion from last 3 years.

Said a Test Engineer in 1-on-1 call with me.

She further asked what should she do to get promoted.

I wanted to get some info.
