@HoustonChron We signed up after the power went out yesterday. Got an automated text saying respond to confirm enrollment. Responded, and received zero communication after that. We got an email saying power was restored at 11:09am today.

And by "for me", I of course mean those are the two days i try to squeeze in way more than 48 hours worth of chores, errands, home improvement, self care, family time... And this is WITH a flexible work schedule.

If CE is important to our employers and important for maintaining licensure/certification, it should happen on business days. Weekends are for me.

Tl;dr. Boycotting a conference in an anti-Roe state might make you feel better. But it doesn't actually help the greater fight for reproductive rights. Boycotting is relatively easy. Advocating is hard and sometimes uncomfortable. But it's what's necessary. N/

An excellent 🧵 re conference boycotts. Remember: conferences occurring this year were planned at least a year (if not two) in advance. One cannot simply move a conference. The logistics are unfathomable. 1/

(3) whether or not you attend these conferences, hold your professional organization to higher reproductive rights advocacy standards. I feel NSGC had taken a too little, too late approach to this fight. So I'll be advocating for and supporting efforts to change this. 6/

@MarkRobsonMD Appreciate your reflection. And moving forward, I hope we can use our collective healthcare voice to our respective professional organizations and demand they not hold conferences in states that do not support evidence-based reproductive healthcare.

@MarkRobsonMD I know how much the AZ conference speaker fees are, as I am speaking at it too. I plan to donate my speakers fee to @abortionfundAZ. I am not forcing planning staff to scramble, I am still offering attendees my knowledge and expertise, and I am supporting repro rights in AZ.

@MarkRobsonMD Your heart may be in the right place. But wouldn't it be more impactful to donate your speaker's fees to an abortion fund in the state you are giving talks in? Conference planners cannot control government policy. Someone is going to fill your spot. This IS virtue signaling.

Marched peacefully and silently with @interfaithusa at the @NRA convention, and this is what happened. I don't know @TKPcreates personally, but as a mom and a Christian, I am beyond proud of her. Thank you, Teresa. You are a wonderful human raising wonderful humans.
