DAY 12: REFLECT
Today I invite you to reflect on the past 11 days.
What has helped you make time for yourself each day? What have been the benefits of being present, even for just short moments at a time? What is worth turning into an ongoing habit?
Wishing you peace. Katrina x
DAY 11: NOURISH
It’s easy during busy times to neglect ourselves. We grab a quick bite when we can, perhaps skip meals and when we get tired we can rely on caffeine and sugar to pick ourselves up. Choose nourishing food and drinks and make the time to stop, while you eat.
DAY 10: GET REAL
We can fall into the habit of over-filling our daily to-do list. We overestimate the amount we can get done in a day and we underestimate the amount of time each task will take. Get real about your to-do list and what you can achieve in the time you have.
DAY 9: CONNECT
Science has proven that connecting with nature relieves stress. Make time today to feel the grass beneath your feet. Feel the sun on your back. Take 5 minutes today to connect with nature, unwind and be present.
DAY 8: SLEEP
Sleep doesn't just make us feel good and maintain our alertness, it is essential to our bodies functioning. I encourage you to book in one night this week where you will allow yourself to get a good night’s sleep. Book it into your calendar: 'Be in bed by 10.00pm'.
DAY 7: BREATHE
Breathing out slowly and fully sends a message to our brain that all is well and it stops our body from going into flight or fight mode. Focus on slow full breaths. Find one minute here and there to be mindful about how you are breathing.
DAY 6: TOP UP YOUR TANK
When your tank is topped up you can give from a place of genuine happiness-to-give and do for others. Today I encourage you to fill your cup so that you can be the best version of yourself in the days to come. Keep it simple.
DAY 5: CLAIM THE DAY
Before you get going and get busy, decide how YOU will show up. You can't do much about the behaviours of others, but you are 100% able to choose how you will show up. Claim a word that describes how you want to be today and get out there and be it!
DAY 3 : PACE YOURSELF
Observe your pace today. Tune in to your pace of voice, pace of movement and your heart rate. Every time your pace seems a little fast, breathe slowly and slow the pace down.
DAY 2: SET A TIME
Set a knock-off work time for at least two days this week. Be disciplined and finish at the time you set, even though there will still be things on your to-do list! Use this time to connect with family, friends or simply have downtime to recharge.
DAY 1: COMMIT
Commit to making 5 minutes every morning (you'll be too tired or busy later in the day) for the next 12 days. Just 5 minutes every morning to sit in silence and just be. Find a quiet place to sit and just be. Allow thoughts to come and go. Breathe deeply and slowly.
*Invest in your middle leaders and strengthen your school*
I'm hosting a conversation for school leaders on Tuesday 17th October. I'll share the pilot project I've been involved in and current evidence on the importance of middle leaders.
