Does anyone else get super excited when they find a property online that ticks all the boxes only to find out it's in a retirement village? #househuntingfail#aheadofmytime
"Australia is at the climate crossroads. The choice is yours, mates" | My commentary for The @Guardian on important new climate report from @GreenpeaceAP: https://t.co/gabXyTlYZw
🥇Greenpeace Australia Pacific has emerged victorious after going head to head with Australia's biggest climate polluter, AGL Australia in the Federal Court.
This is a great judgment. And not just for @GreenpeaceAP. I’ve been finding recently that copyright often stands in the way of legitimate criticism. Nice to see parody and satire being analyzed in this way by the court.
We arrived at the Federal Court to a flurry of reporters and TV cameras, and a crowd of incredible supporters protesting against AGL's decision to sue the charity Greenpeace Australia Pacific over its campaign materials calling AGL out as Australia's biggest climate polluter.
.@GreenpeaceAP faced down coal company @AGLAustralia in the Federal Court yesterday in a landmark intellectual property case which saw Greenpeace rely on the freedom of speech safeguard in the Copyright Act known as “fair dealing” https://t.co/JYM17ruep4 #auspol#ClimateAction
When fossil fuel companies are under pressure, they're increasingly using the law to SLAPP down their critics.
Read a piece from Greenpeace General Counsel @KatrinaBullock_ on how powerful corporations use litigation to stifle dissent.

Using company trademarks as parody to highlight alleged #greenwashing will be tested @FedCctCourtAU this week in AGL v Greenpeace. A conversation @KatrinaBullock_@GreenpeaceAP @DrSarahHook @Westsydlaw

Greenpeace Australia Pacific and AGL will face off in the Federal Court in Sydney on 2 June 2021 in a landmark case that could determine the ability of charities to use corporate logos for the purpose of satire, parody and criticism https://t.co/sL3j6hjUYL #auspol
It is quite amusing that AGL isn’t disputing the facts (because it is Australia’s largest climate polluter & 2x the second!)… it’s disputing the use of its logo.
Good to see the order of their priorities.
Ladies & Gentleman - The Streisand effect: a social phenomenon that occurs when an attempt to hide, remove, or censor information has the unintended consequence of further publicising that information, often via the Internet.
With the successful lawsuit brought against Rest Super, the case will shape implications across the investment industry and environmental and climate space, with significant legal considerations. #auslaw https://t.co/6Ccyjjbyyx
