If I may, I think this is one of the reasons we're in this mess - climate change has been sold all wrong

Being told the temperature is rising "0.56° per decade",👇 to non specialists who live in a world where temperatures vary by at least 40° in the space of a single year doesn't sound anything to worry about. It obviously 𝒊𝒔, we're seeing that this week - but all this talk of fragments of degrees of temperature clearly hasn't brought it home to non-climatologists - ie the vast majority of us, how dangerous this all is. The same goes for the usual "we have to get down to 1,5 C instead of 2°. Compared to the wild swings in the day-t-day weather we all experience, it doesn't sound that much. It doesn't sound 𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉

We shouldn't call it "global warming" either, even though it clearly is. Most of the year for most people living in cold climates that sounds rather nice. It's obviously not, as we see in weeks like this. "Climate destruction", or "planet destruction" would have more impact than constantly being told it's a matter of fragments of degrees. It is for scientists. My point is messaging is part of the problem because people clearly haven't related enough to the urgency of it with the way it's been sold ...
