PQJ2026 Report (by Katsuya Hirano)
On March 22nd, I participated as a supervisor and judge in the Physiology Quiz Japan 2026 (PQJ 2026), hosted by medical students from Kagawa University. The event was sponsored by the Physiological Society of Japan. Prof. Fumito Ono from the Education Committee also participated as a judge. Three teams from overseas and six teams from Japan, a total of 31 participants, engaged in a heated competition. There were occasional fierce challenges to the judging of the answers, which kept the judges engaged. A team from Singapore won the championship, but more than the quiz results, what was impressive was seeing medical students interacting across regions and countries during breaks and at the social gathering after the quiz competition. I myself enjoyed interacting with students from other universities, making it a fulfilling quiz competition. I was impressed by the hard work of the Kagawa University students in running the event on the day. It was my first time participating, but I'm already looking forward to the next competition.
