Serious allegations emerging from inside Safaricom point to a powerful management circle involving CEO Peter Ndegwa, Chairman Adil Khawaja and Chief Finance Officer Dilip Pal, with claims that loyalty and personal interests are taking precedence over the company's financial accountability.

At the centre of these is DigiFarm, a Safaricom product intended to support farmers and insurance companies, which insiders claim has suffered losses amounting to a staggering KSh 4 billion.

I have insider information that there are plans to classify the losses as bad debt, effectively transferring the financial consequences to shareholders, including South African investors, rather than holding the people responsible for the decisions accountable.

Dilip Pal is also facing allegations concerning his professional registration in Kenya, employment authorisation and continued tenure, with insiders claiming that his closeness to Ndegwa has protected his position despite internal concerns.

Adil Khawaja is further accused of supporting Pal's continued stay, raising serious concerns about the independence of Safaricom's board and whether senior management is being subjected to proper financial oversight.
