I thought that the tour "The Kendeda Building: The New Definition of Equity" captured the sonic experience of each location very colorfully. They described the specific sounds you might hear in those areas with detail. #1102archsound
In the tour "Seeing Beyond Sight", I thought the perspective of exploring a sonic landscape from a visually-impaired visitor's point of view was very unique. Sound is definitely a crucial aspect of such visitors' experiences in the building. #1102archsound
After 5 back to back days of watching screaming children, riding noisy MARTA buses, going to class lectures, and sitting through 30-minutes of the DDS's hold music, I am ready for a FULL day of silent study/sleep tomorrow. Do not disturb mode all day. #1102archsound
Q11:I think that going back and reading those poems now, I'm able to appreciate the importance of sound a bit more. Whereas before I could identify what sounds were present in the poem, I couldn't necessarily tell you why. I think I have a better grasp on that now. #1102archsound
@gbarcellos3 So crazy to google that! It's interesting because the author too is deaf and spent much of her twenties hitchhiking with her friend around South America. She says that the experiences from that time feature heavily in her stories. Rio could easily be partly true. #1102archsound
While reading Rio, I found it very interesting how nonverbal speaking was put into verbal context. The writer didn't necessarily interpret others' mimings in full sentences, but rather in disjointed phrases. What do you think was the significance of this? #1102archsound
Loved today's class lecture! This is such an important topic of discussion, and is something that must be kept in mind as Atlanta continues to develop and change. Improvement is all great, but only if it also helps to serve Atlanta's existing communities. #1102archsound
Seeing the construction and finalized product of another living building made me excited to see how the one on campus will turn out. Love that Georgia Tech is prioritizing sustainability. #1102archsound
In @evertheland, two differing opinions within the Tuhoe tribe are presented regarding the money spent on the living building. Do you think the money spent could've been used in more beneficial ways for the overall community? #1102archsound
Q10: Baruch Spinoza centered his ideology on a principal that holds a fluid nature at its core. This nature is one that is active and self sustaining, both governed and at one with God. #1102archsound
Watching the kids I nanny today and marveling at how these tiny humans can emit both the most joyful and melancholy sounds in a mere matter of minutes. #1102archsound
@vishalhansalia1 I think it's so interesting how humans are able to anticipate certain sonic environments through learned experience. We sort of intrinsically are able to prepare for the auditory experience. #1102archsound
@ArjunsinhNakum I think it depends on the context. If you're trying to isolate a specific sound, like pen scratching on paper, background sounds act as noise. However, in some cases those sounds are vital to capturing the essence of a sonic experience, such as students studying in a study hall.
Q9: I think to capture my sound most effectively I will need to focus on rendering a recording that gives the listener the experience that I feel when listening to the sound in real life.
I found it very difficult to capture the sound I chose to record without picking up too much background noise. I even found myself having to watch my breathing so the mic wouldn't pick it up. #1102archsound
Q 9: "How to Become Batman"discusses equity in a way that addresses how our expectations for individuals can become more equal rather than how we can create assistance-based environments that hinder individuals from achieving self-reliability. #1102archsound
