Republicans are about to pass the largest increase in police funding *ever* in the United States, with almost all of that funding going to ICE and agencies that partner with ICE. That’s not even including the additional funding for more incarceration/surveillance. This is the single worst bill for policing and mass incarceration we have ever witnessed in the United States. It’s worse than the 1994 Crime Bill and anything that came before it. The bill expands a massive secret police force (ICE), essentially duplicating the existing the U.S. police force but with even less oversight and with loyalty only to Trump. And they’ve already said they’ll target US citizens and non-citizens alike, so nobody will be safe.
