HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS: WE ARE NOT COPS.
When my colleagues put “marijuana abuse” in a patient’s chart and I see the patient, I delete it from their “problem list.”
It’s called harm reduction, Karen.
Yet another news story of CPS unjustly taking a Black baby. These are not aberrations; this is how family policing is designed to work. #AbolishCPS https://t.co/NAjVrOYjhK
Good morning. Abortion can be self-managed with pills sourced in your community. 1 mifepristone pill followed by 4 misoprostol pills 24-48 hours later OR 12 miso pills dissolved 4 at a time under the tongue every 3 hours. You don’t need to tell police what you took if they ask.
. @ReadingHosp has a planned vaginal breech birth program! We had a tushie-first bb this morning 👐🏼🍑 This is me & Dr. Ashley Brandt (OBGYN & gender affirming surgeon) post-birth. Head to my Instagram @ katweeta for more info! #MedEd#breechbirth#obgyntwitter
Scoop: Judge Kacsmaryk in 2017 submitted a law review article criticizing protections for trans people. Ahead of his judicial nomination, he removed his name and swapped in two others.
Nominees are required to disclose all publications to the Senate. https://t.co/HCSqcOg9zm
@RBraceySherman https://t.co/5m4juTMbfr ! For Pittsburgh - which I betchya will see ~even more~ more patients from OH, WV, VA, even NY… we’re protected by the WA order here - those bordering states are not 😓
Days after Mila Jackson’s birth, her mother took Mila and her two brothers on what should have been a routine visit to the pediatrician. Instead, baby Mila was ripped away from her parents' loving care by Dallas CPS, and her father was arrested. 🧵
There is no place in the US where someone can be pregnant without fearing criminalization. Some places just criminalize people more frequently and for more pregnancy outcomes than others. California happens to be one that criminalizes people for their pregnancy outcomes.
Thanks to today’s @PADemPolicy Hearing testifiers, Nurse Midwife Katrina Lipinsky and Dr. Sarah Horvath. Also thanks to @PPAdvocatesPA’s Signe Espinoza, who helped organize the hearing. This hearing focused on how we can increase access to abortion services in PA.
Katrina Lipinsky graduated with $350k in debt to be a midwife and recognizes that despite the debt load of a physician she will never command the salary of one. We need to make it more enticing to people to come and stay here which includes allowing them to practice fully.
@RepTarik asks the panel about their thoughts on full practice permission. Katrina Lipinsky points to the midwifery modernization act which has been a decade in the making and maintains a nurse practitioner license as well as a midwifery license both of which are tied to a Dr.
Katrina explains that while the care for abortion and miscarriage is exactly the same, she is banned from providing only one and none of the health systems in Reading provide abortion.
