@incunabula They could not be more wrong. The marginalization of liberal arts will lead us to a new Dark Age— I fear it’s already happening. The ability to appreciate abstractions like art, music, and story is what makes us more than bipedal apes,, after all.
@AuDHDtherapist …uniquely unsuited to this period in history. American hustle culture makes me look like a complete failure of a human being. May I ask in what context manual executive function would have been a positive adaptation?
@AuDHDtherapist This is really interesting. I’ve been thinking for a while that I don’t have a disorder, and there have always been people whose brain structures were like mine, or differed from average in some way. The problem is that I am/we are…
@DerekHolly7 Was it that an influential person, a world leader, was vocal and proud about his Irish-American identity? As an Irish-American from an Irish-American neighborhood in New York, we feel all of the pride and none of the shame. Threatening to would-be colonial overlords?
@DerekHolly7 I've been thinking about this a lot for a number of reasons, including having read Dr. de Barra's insightful book. And also the collective tantrum over Joe Biden's visit to Ireland--why was the English press so incensed ?
@randomirish That's...outlandish. I had the best meal of my life in Belfast (I can't remember the name of the place, but it was modern Irish-fusion), and in general enjoyed the food in Ireland as much I have in Italy or anywhere else.
@MegsleyMajor@DanMulhall Today I learned that the ravishment of this person's 60x greatgrandmother by a Speardane carries equal gravity to my respect and love for my Irish grandparents, who helped raised me. It's a bad look to lecture the members of a culture of which you know nothing (the US northeast)
