In December 2023, the House of Commons voted on Bill S-210, the Protecting Young Persons from Exposure to Pornography Act, which would require age verification measures to restrict minors' access to sexually explicit content online.

Many Liberal MP's voted against it citing that the bill raised issues around:

Privacy and collection of personal information.
Potential government-mandated age verification systems.
The possibility that the legislation could apply more broadly than dedicated pornography sites.

So they were concerned about the privacy of porn addicts but not the privacy of all Canadians that access social media? Explain that.

You probably don’t keep up with international politics but Kier Starmer tried implementing mandatory digital ID and had to back away due to public backlash, concerns around cybersecurity and infringement on personal freedoms.

I am ok with youth on social media, like anything it is a cost benefit analysis and responsible parents monitor. This is a parental responsibility not the governments. And its naive to think the government is just looking out for the kids when the allow the aforementioned things to go on. This is a ploy for state mandated digital ID.

This is 100% to limit opposition and retain power. ALL citizens will have to submit identification and be subject to censorship - comply, face fines, de-banking or worse (imprisonment). We need look no further than Britain to see where this is headed.

Any opposition to government policy, whether it’s unmitigated mass migration, opposition to the sterilization and mutilation of vulnerable children, or opposition to any government policy (climate change), will be deemed a hate crime. We see you.

They don’t care about our kids. Have they banned child pornography? No. They let violent criminals out on bail to
Terrorize our communities. They hand out hard core drugs next to our schools where our kids have to walk past bent over potentially violent addicts. But online? They are so DEEPLY concerned.

But don’t worry! Canadians now must provide ID to prove they’re over 16 to engage in discussions about the organized degeneration of Canadian society. Your underage child can still access brutal porn, walk past dangerous addicts, access sterilization meds and double mastectomies, that’s not social media.

They’re not cracking down on the exploitation of children online - they’re limiting your free speech…because it’s “dangerous” - to their retention of power. This is dystopian.
