I can't believe we're finally here. Growing up on the Arvad, #Adalia was always going to be our children's home. "You might live to see it, but it won't be yours." Well, I'm here now, and darn well intend to be a part of building this new world! #influenceth

I'm sitting in the A37 mess hall with my friend Irina, chatting over dinner. She works in Maintenance too, and is always a fun one to share a meal with! Tonight, she's all fired up over the tensions that have been showing up everywhere lately.

I think I partly agree with her, although we also do have a need for ground rules and cooperating principles in this new world. Complete anarchy will serve no one. But I definitely question the motives of those who are already calling for a strong central #Adalian government.

@influenceth It's amazing how much this has been discussed here on Arvad. The astronomers caution that spectral types are only broad classifications, but that doesn't stop anyone!

For me, C types are the most important. In the vast emptiness of space, they represent food, water, air. Life.

Lucky for you all, maintenance pods are in short supply, and the biggest engineering challenge of the last century is staring me in the face: disassembling the Arvad. Guess I'll be sticking around. For now. :)

I'm an engineer. I like to build new machines and fix broken ones. Humans are so complicated by comparison! All this political talk these days makes me want to jump in a maintenance pod and go on a long survey mission to get away from it all.

Personally, I can see both sides of the argument, but that kind of fighting is just ugly, and I want no part of it! I'm here to help build the new world, not squabble over the last fragments of the old one.

Wow. Just watched a shouting match come almost to blows in the aft Axial Corridor. Something about whether our supply of tungsten should be fairly distributed or auctioned off. I thought we had agreed to evenly split everything, but I guess not everyone agrees...

It looked like saner heads were prevailing as I was leaving, but still, it was unsettling to see. I know emotions are running high lately with all the work of Arrival, but it feels like our community on Arvad is starting to burst at the seams! So much is changing.

@MikaelOrr I want to believe that we will remain a family, even as we disperse throughout #Adalia. Even the smallest asteroids we picked up on our scans are a thousand times the mass of the entire Arvad. Faced with such a vast, empty new world, every human is rare and precious. #influenceth

@MarkusKorivak @JerichGalanodel I think some of the radiator arrays I've been helping remove from Arvad recently are ones the Quartermaster wanted, to help with heat rejection from the smelters he's trying to figure out how to get working without a natural planetary atmosphere. He sure does go on, you're right!

@JerichGalanodel @MarkusKorivak I know some folks wished we could've turned Arvad into a museum after Arrival, but I totally agree that reusing her is the best possible tribute, in addition to being necessary! She's going to live on for centuries in the day-to-day lives of #Adalians. #influenceth

Seriously, it seems like every single person on this ship is abuzz with plans for the future of #Adalia. We're nothing if not long-term thinkers around here, and there are some ambitious dreamers even then!

It's 03:30 ship time and I just woke up with the strangest realization. I've been participating in the most literal EVAs of my entire career these past days: turning Arvad into a bunch of extra vehicles!
