@BillAckman I don’t think anyone should be “attacked” for buying a penthouse. But taxation should be about funding the govt in the fairest and least destructive way. All taxation is “inefficient” at some level but this tax is about the fairest and least distortionary way to fund it.

@liquidizer @anammostarac Norway does not have rent widespread rent control, state owned supermarkets, or a minimum wage. Norway DOES have a massive state-owned oil company that funds a sovereign wealth fund that largely invests its billions of petro-dollars in US Equity markets.

The US accounts for over 26% of global economic activity (70% of which is consumer spending) while only having 4% of the global population. Why are people appalled that we have a trade deficit? It would be impossible to consume at that level and NOT have one.

China. Tariffs aren’t per se “bad” but they are a regressive sales tax, which is a very odd way to go about helping lower and working class folks.
