میں روزِ اول سے یہ کہتا آ رہا ہوں کہ پاکستان میں رویتِ ہلال کمیٹی کی کوئی ضرورت ہی نہیں۔ جب ایک صوبے کی چھ مستند شہادتوں کو نظر انداز کیا ج��ئے، اور خود کو عالم کہنے والے یہ دعویٰ کریں کہ ایک بھی شہادت موصول نہیں ہوئی، تو یہ سنجیدگی نہیں بلکہ ایک مذاق محسوس ہوتا ہے۔
کیا پختونخوا سے آپ کو چاند کی شہادت بھی قابلِ قبول نہیں؟ بھائی لوگوں یہاں پر عبادت سمجھ کر لوگ چاند دیکھنے کا اہمتام کرتے ہیں۔ اگر رویہ یہی ہے تو رویتِ ہلال کمیٹی پشاور زون کے اراکین کو چاہیے کہ وہ آج ہی اپنے استعفے پیش کریں۔ ان کے ایک گواہ کی شہادت تو میڈیا نے بھی ریکارڈ کی ہے۔
بہرحال، پختونخوا کے عوام کو ایک بار پھر اسلامی دنیا کے ساتھ عید مبارک۔

Pakistan's endorsement of South Africa's initiative to invoke the Genocide Convention in the International Court of Justice (@CIJ_ICJ) is a step in the right direction. Amb @usmanjadoon_fsp called Israel's actions a "veritable genocide". After recognizing that this is a genocide, it is only right and necessary that Pakistan joins the case by submitting a Declaration of Intervention in the ICJ.

The ICJ convenes tomorrow for hearings on South Africa's request for the indication of provisional measures. This may well pave the way for a ceasefire. After 23,000 martyrs and the threat of starvation and forced deportation looming, Gaza needs more than statements of support. It needs urgent action.

As a party to the Genocide Convention, it is Pakistan's duty to prevent genocide. Whenever the construction of a convention is in question in an ICJ case, states other than those directly concerned in the case have the right to intervene in the proceedings by submitting a Declaration of Intervention.

Pakistani youth organizations, campaign groups for Palestine, students, intellectuals, and civil society have been trending on Twitter with the demand that Pakistan announces its decision to join the SA case before tomorrow's hearing so the possibility of securing suitable provisional orders increases.

I reiterate this demand. No avenue must be left unexplored for an immediate ceasefire.
